There's a book I want to write here regarding just how clever HF (and thus the VN as a whole) is but my coffee hasn't got into my bloodstream fully yet and I'm not done the route. But if it keeps up like this? I can say that HF is my favorite route for sure.

 

ETA: Angel: Nope! I decided to choose to stick with Sakura at that choice. Selfish Shirou fascinates me.

That's one of the best bad endings in the VN.

 

It's a really interesting one so don't forget to check it out when you're done with HF.

Apparently. Their tend to be so many fate faithfuls here that any first time fate watchers might get fate fatalities for not fulfilling following the fate franchise facts to a ferocious t in the fateful presence of the fate following fan founders.

Angel: Thank you for the heads up! In the other two routes, I'd usually grab the bad ends while I was already in the neighborhood of the choice but for HF I've been making my choices and sticking with them once I'm in the clear. Almost have two full pages of choices to jump back to though so picking up the bad ends later will be fun. :3

 

As far as the other two routes and bad ends go:

I'm only missing the final failed affection check from Fate and then whatever ending 23 is in UBW. I have to get all my stamps later so it's definitely something I'll go back to.

 

I'm still really amused by the fact that while UBW itself gets much more serious as it goes on, the TDs in turn get much more insane.

It's okay, because I haven't seen it yet (I'm waiting for season 2 of UBW to finish). After I have seen it, everyone that has seen it will gang up on everyone who has not, because I have Geth's blessing or something (I can't die until we have our Pokemon Battle)

when the times comes. I have to many games and movies to watch. Feels like I'm already backlogged for quite a few weeks as is. Tend to be one of those "Buy way more stuff then the time I have to play it" sort of things. lel

Finished GE999. And just as I expected, saying goodbye is hard. After a while I almost felt like I was on that journey with the main characters.



One of the main reason I decided to watch this show is because an episode from Aria the Natural has some very blatant references to it. It's what got me to look it up in the first place. Aria being my favorite anime ever, I thought "If Aria is referencing this, it's probably worth watching!". It also helped convince me that it seemed to share a lot of similarities with Kino's Journey and Mushi-Shi, two other favorites of mine.

Coming from Aria, I expected GE999 to be somewhat lighthearted. Those expectations were completely crushed in the first few episodes.

Took me a while (that's an understatement, it's been over 2 years since I started it. Maybe 3), but I'm glad I watched it. It was far from perfect, and I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless I know it really suits their tastes and they have a tolerance for older shows and their quirks, but it's an important classic and I got to see its influence on a lot of later shows that I watched and enjoyed.

The journey is over. Time for a new one. Onwards to Death Parade. Probably. Next weekend. Unless Amazon wakes up and finally ships me those Twelve Kingdoms Blu-Rays.

Oh, don't mention it. I'm not in a position to judge Sakura as a character, considering her minor importance in both Fate and UBW, so I'm just prematurely picking on her for fun (though House said she isn't much of a character in HF either, so my hopes aren't high).

 

Hope you get to writing something substantial. Looking forward to hear your impressions. Might as well write just one big post about all three routes, both with their pros and cons, once I'm completely done with F/SN (along with something that I have been doing with Fate Zero). We'll see though, hopefully in summer I have motivation to do so.

That's exactly what I'm hoping to do too. I admit I'll have to dust the cobwebs from my mind a bit since I haven't really written anything substantial since I finished Psycho Pass last year (really looking forward to hearing your thoughts there as a whole too), but I'd like to think it'll be a nice exercise and a chance to gush over the VN as a whole. I mean, it's kind of been 10 years in the making and potentially will be pretentious as **** (huehue, to call back to what we all talked about a good while back) but I'm very surprised at the various emotions the VN has brought out in me.

 

Originally going into the VN years back assuming it was just a harem series and thus not really for me has been so wonderfully flipped around. Even without completing it fully yet, I can say I'm thankful for our Fate group to motivate me to pick it back up.

Eh, Deen > Zero > UBW have done a great job in my enjoyement of the Fate franchise for me. With the first serving as an introduction, second as an entertaning show on itself and UBW as a fitting sequel (has offered enough revelation to satisfy me). Would I have the choice, I'd do the same route again.
