Saw a review of When Marnie Was There on NPR of all places. I guess it's out in US theaters, though I only see it listed as limited release in NY and LA at the moment. I should take a look, regardless.

Haven't watched anime in a while, I don't feel motivated to. I've been reading a ton of manga though, some I liked and others not so much.

Some people go out on Fridays to bars and clubs to socialize and stuff.
As for me. I like making comics

Edit: Also sorry Puddi. You were originally planned to be in it too as Geths right hand man. But my budget was slashed and cuts had to be made
This is beautiful beyond what words can describe!
OH RIGHT!
That fiend!
A far too nice thing to say for something so devilish!
Since I'm the original bug in a few folks' ear to get them to watch Princess Tutu I'll just say don't judge it on the title. That's just silly.
Aye, judging by title or the images google bring up is so silly that I might not even know enough variations of saying how silly it is and I do know quite a few ways of saying it's silly. Just so silly!
Oops I accidently wandered into the Scooby doo thread.
It wasn't the first thing I expected to encounter today in the thread but it did take a little while to realise that it actually was the anime thread.

I tried Lost Canvas first and that didn't work at all.
So now I'm going with Asgard and it's pretty entertaining 4-5 episodes in, hopefully will stay engaged until the end. Generally I'm quite impressed with a lot of these earlier anime, something solid feeling compared to a lot of more modern ones.
Best part of all:
- minimal to no fanservice.
- no lolis!
It's pretty much all about the characters/plot. Too bad they can't make a good main protagonist to save their life.
It's ALWAYS a obnoxius Marty Stue saint of Pegasus.

Jast saw her in the second beginning song of Gintama season 5. She's so Kawaii! Is she a character in this season?

Since watching Shirobako you have an even greater sense of wonder as to how Ufotable pull their stuff off.

Ah I still need to watch Shirobako. It's somewhere on my list. It's in that pile of things.

From what I remember they sold the Kara No Kyoukai and FZ BD at a very high price.
That probably helped a lot.

Get hyped.

Read on reddit last year that 30-100k copies is generally a success regarding anime sales, but with Zero's case it sold up to 500 in 2014. Of course it wasn't an official statement, and I don't know if this is true, since I don't know much about the anime industry.
Still though, from what I've read from interviews and comments, I get the impression that when it comes to Ufotable isn't simply that they have a big budget, but also that the team is extremely talented. For example, the VA for Rin Tohsaka stated that Ufotable is one of those rare anime companies that do the voice acting beforehand and match the animation along with the voices, instead of the other way around, allowing themselves the opportunity to blend in emotions and lip-syncing more fluidly.
