Does Spongebob even deserve that much money pumped into it? I haven't watched the show in years but I heard it's terrible.

I think it's to do with Nasu being smart with the entire thing.

 

Like, F/SN is accessable to so many people.

 

It's got a solid plot with well written characters

It's got a ton of marketable value with its 'waifus'

It has eroge

It has a ton of great fight scenes.

Cool-ass character design, so again, great marketable value for toys

 

So yeah, you're covering plot-nerds, otakus etc...

 

Especially the fact that it has a great story.

 

I don't think any of us would have really cared all that much if its writing wasn't good.
