Shokugeki no Soma being just as entertaining this week as always. No matter what the episode is about it's going to be entertaining and offer something completely new from the episodes that aired before it. Also wonderful and delicious food that look just too good!

It's just goofy as sin a lot of the time, I'm not sure that's a revelation. It's both a benefit (in the sense that characters are multi-dimensional and so on) and sometimes detraction (because I personally wish the characters show demonstrate more gravity/seriousness on occasion), from my perspective. Also lots of series demonstrate that the two aren't mutually exclusive (see, most classic anime, Ghibli, etc)
And yeah I don't think SK and America can pull off clever and have their own set of things I don't like (really don't like, even)
Anyway to illustrate the point I was searching through stuff and I came across Fate/Grand Order design and I realized someone already posted this here but and while they're yeah kind of on the pervy strange side they also transmit a bit of a mature aura as well, as far as anime goes. The biggest thing is they're just always too young, personally want protagonists that are like 20 or something, even 22/24.
Not sure why age and art style would be such a detractor when it comes to providing legitimately mature "vibes" in anime. And you seem to be of the mind that Japan is always riding a fine line between maturity and edgy which I don't get either. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I would never take anything away from a show like Anohana that deals with loss, regret, and moving on just because it's centered around a bunch of high school students.

First of all this directed at you only (don't want to go about it again elsewhere), yeah I've seen Ano Hana it's kinda solid, definitely sticks out. There aren't any firm and hard rules that I have or something, plenty of shows have younger characters and it doesn't really bother me at all, or are set in high school etc, I mean most Ghibli protags are like 12. Plus, a show could have all adults doing crazy over the top violent things or whatever and then I'm not going to like it as much. The chars in SSY are kind of young but people we're just talking about and it's kind of entertaining. Code Geass is set in high school but one I liked a lot.
Plus even if something does get pervy or weird for my tastes I don't like immediately say it's the worst thing ever, Elfen Lied has girls feeling each others breasts randomly and whatnot in broad daylight and I'm like... ok... not really seeing the purpose here, but taken in the aggregate, it's not a majorly big deal the show's all right I suppose since it has a few other interesting ideas, especially when there's so many other overriding things going on. That's not just for anime I mean in GoT or something when there's the prostitute scenes I'm not excited about it necessarily but it's not really a big deal either. GoT is witty funny interesting a dozen other things so it might still be worth the watch basically.
Anyway I don't want to give the impression there's some formula I'm using or whatever, it just depends on a lot of things.

Not necessarily.. it can be somewhat complicated with no firm boundaries or specific things that may or may not bother me, and sometimes things make it clear though pretty quick just why I'm not going to like it. It's always going to be a perspective in the aggregate.
I mean I brought up the Fate/Order character because honestly might want to play that someday.... maybe not
