I'm also glad to say that I haven't really regreted picking up the spring anime that I did back then.

More conflicted about this episode than I suspected that I would be. From an adaptation PoV the show is getting worse and worse which is a shame. There are so many things in this episode that one could talk about but I'll keep it short as usual.

Big swords? Really? Just looked ridiculous instead of cool. Would've prefered if there would've been normal sized swords instead of that. Rin's scream sounded just awful and dear me do I hope Ufotable don't try that again. Would've prefred more EMIYA track though that will always be the case. I do also prefer how the VN did it with Gil trying to kill Shirou from the start instead of Archer but the end result is more or less the same so a minor issue. Not an awful episode by any means but it could've been just so much better that disappointment is unavoidable

Did like that I got to see the flashback on how the grail set fire to the city from Zero and besides the above mentioned action by Gil I got to say I quite enjoyed his part of the episode. With UBW losing quality in my eyes I believe Gil is the one character that might turn things around and maybe just maybe have a decent conclusion to it all.

Pacing.. man Ufotable don't do that part well at all anymore..

Season 1 isn't that important. Kind of just establishing the characters and their relationship. I'd recommend going through the Chuunin exam arc cause it's one of the better parts of the entire series. Otherwise all you need to know is Sasuke is incredibly whiny and is willing to do anything to kill his brother and Naruto considered Sasuke his true friend and you can jump right into Shippuden.

Very much this, as an adaptation it's going downhill fast but as show standing on its own it's well above average and something people really should give a chance. Great characters, mostly great visuals, good story and a couple of good tracks in the OST
