So the 2nd Gintama movie is kinda based. It's the best of Gintama taken a few steps further and given some even better treatment in movie form. I can only say it's really, really awesome.

I'd assume a mix, like they inherit the artstyle depending on the universe.

 

I only watched up to the midway point of Season 2.

But it was a good show, I just got sidetracked with other stuff.

It is a fantastic movie.

And I like it way more as an ending than the overly long Shogun Assassination arc in the manga.
