*floats in* Read the manga.

I mean I can't completely talk cause I haven't watched the series yet so I don't know how it is as an adaption but the main worry I have is the little one shot stories I enjoyed a whole lot that I worry they cut. This will have some vague spoilers but I'll leave the details out and ask:

Does the anime contain a moment where Anna goes to meet a diner owner she used to work for? It's a simple chapter but I'd be pretty gutted if they cut it cause it had quite an emotional reaction on me.

I need to get back to Monster -- It had a lot of episodes but I ended up on Episode 70. I've mentioned a few times how much I love Richard Epcar as the Inspector.

I haven't seen him in a lot of voice over work since Kingdom Hearts but he was pretty good there.

Man you left it nearly at its end.

Still...

Give us your thoughts!

Yep it does.

And yes, it was great.

Godoka forbid you abandon the VN before you're done.

A certain accommodative building might come and eat you.

Speaking of Oregairu, I finally got the chance to sit down and start with it and I am already liking it. Pitting a nihilist, realist and an idealist (or at least I got the impression she is one) into a room, along with some witty banter and humorous remarks on society, is exactly my kind of show that I can see myself enjoying.

Looking forward to see how this show develops.

Ooooh. Glad to see that you're finally watching it. That scores high on Angel points!

Oregairu is one of my favorite anime I'd even put it in my top 5 because I personally just find the story very refreshing in it's genre. It's also fantastic to see Hiki and co develop over the course of the anime/LN.

That or they could be leaving certain middle bit's for Bluray specials and OVA's because doing that seems to be frustratingly popular nowadays.

That's true.

They could always fix it that way I suppose.

I also hope that they'll make a movie to finish up the last two (three?) volumes. It's not really that far fetched since it's the most popular LN and it's one of the best selling anime this season.

Having Oregairu end with a movie would be so amazing. I don't even know the ending yet but Watari has been handling his story well so I would be surprised if it managed to dissapoint.

I still need to watch it. I might start it up when S2 finishes. Though i'll probably forget.

To think that Oregairu wasn't a show that I started this season with and only added it to the bunch to have a decent number of shows to follow. Same happened with Death Parade that I added after 3 episodes and Oregairu is keeping the late addition tradition going just as well as DP did

Monster was an amazing manga, and the anime was top notch too.

Yes, Monster is amazing.

It's 6th in my top 10.

So

Go read 20th Century Boys by the same author.

It's even better.

Please.

And also.

Every other single one of his works.

Especially Pluto

Which is a more mature take on Mangaka-Tolkien's Astro Boy with a great story and an awesome anti-war message.

Apart from Yawara!

Because you'll be left hanging with Yawara!

Which is a shame.

Because Yawara is a really fun sports shoujo.

And Fujiko is one of my fav females in fiction.

Give us your thoughts!

Well, I ended up watching Better Call Saul and some others shows etc. I really do want to write my feelings on the show but I feel like it's not enough with short summarized thoughts, so I'm going to elaborate as soon as I finish writing on the others. I tend to start writing on too many things instead of focusing on just the one so I'll try to focus on Stein's Gate. Speaking of which. Watch it. Will watch your thang too -- I sware on me mum.

I already had 20th Century Boys on my list from your praise before Sim but now I'm going to have to shuffle it way up there after hearing you find it better than Monster.

Overall? Yes.

It's a amazing story, planned out from A to B. Hell, one of the first panels in the manga are events occuring on the last.

There's very little I can say that's "bad" about it.

Mostly it not expanding on a few things.

But god is it one hell of a ride that once you reach a certain point you'll find it hard to drop.

Every chapter is perfectly paced, every end will leave you in suspense. It's almost as if Charles Dickens took a part in the writing. The mystery and intrigue is on par, if not, above Monster's level with twists and turns around every corner.

Oh.

And "Friend?"

You'll never guess who he/she is.

Oof, yeah. Now you have me incredibly intrigued. <3 A well-done mystery is always a weakness of mine and since I've been very happy with how Monster plays out (for the most part, there are some minor issues but we've already discussed that a while back), I'm very much excited to dig into what 20th Century Boys has to offer. Definitely will keep you updated whenever I start it!

Yeah, I've seen lots of mystery in anime/manga that never did anything for me since I love my Agatha Christie, and she's the Godess of Mystery.

But Naoki Urusawa is a Maiar to her Valar.

...

Tolkien stuff... sorry xD

Have to concur with Anima, it does sound fascinating for sure. Will tackle it at some point, since I have one or two manga I want to read before I start with another.

Christie being my equally Goddess of Mystery, this is why the recommendation holds so much weight for me. Since I know we're on the same page as far as how we like our mysteries to unfold.

I know I talk **** about the second half of Death Note for example, hell I know a lot of people do but the first chunk really was a rather enjoyable cat and mouse sort of setup. Such hunts are a massive weakness of mine and that's why Monster fed it so nicely. Sure, there's some waffling here and there but as a whole, the long hunt is so unbelievably satisfying for me. :')

The Deathnote creator said he didn't want the series to be about good versus evil where good just triumphed at the end

I feel like Death Note was a bit screwball by the 3rd episode to be honest. By 15 or 16 I lost interest almost totally.

And what part 2?

Pretty much the second opening onwards.
