Well, that's cliche'd but that scene at least has some tongue-in-cheek value to it.
The worst cliche'd moments are from Bleach. This for example. Or this.
I couldn't watch them thoroughly through, so I don't know if Ichigo even says (shouts) "I'll protect you" or "mamoru!" in those, but they're pretty awfully cliche'd still. Save the music - Shiro Sagisu knows his craft.
Also, I'd bring an example of some ecchi-filled, school-life oriented flick, but I sadly don't know the names of any.
Strawberry panic is pretty horrible, and cliche'd - but it's yuri rather than shonen. So it's really not so much about the demographic - shonen works can also be done awesomely well, like Death Note and Hunter X Hunter (and I personally vouch for Air Gear).
Bleach does have some cliche moments but I totally love it. Orihime needs to just die already tho. One of the most annoying anime characters ever

Also Elfen Lied, but that's not as important.
And if you get the time, go read Bakuman.

And yet she has had the best "moments"(like one) of the last ten years of the crap that is Bleach, the "moments" I am talking about is that one time she wanted to eat a donut... Thank god Bleach is soon to be dead for good.darthnick427 wrote...

I've watched the series: Bleach, DBZ, FMA: Brotherhood, Darker than Black, Inuyasha, Zoids, Yu yu Hakusho, and Samurai Shamploo.
and I've watched the Movies: Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Howl's Moving Castle
I'm considering watching Cowboy Bee-bop
Any suggestions for good anime series out there? I mostly like fighting animes so anything along those lines is good

I concur, This was no where to be found in that movie, anyone here ever watch the series?
I did. Loved the series when it was aired in english. They didn't make any more after the initial run and I finished up the series in subtitles. Loved it.

Good to hear, right now I'm just past the part where they changed the opening. I still question their judgment for that.

Now if you like "fighting" or battle anime as people call them, I would say One Piece, the Hunter x Hunter 1998 show or the 2011 one(you get the full story in this show). if you like big robots too G Gundam, GaoGaiGar and Gurren Lagann are a must.
But I want to say some things about the battle styles of One Piece and Hunter x Hunter to see if you like that sort of stuff, before you get into them. I will start with One Piece first, it's fights have a lot of fun thinking that goes into them. The main character Luffy is a rubber man with super strength so his fights are more or less brawls. But his fights do have some nice thinking into them, like since he can't swim at all thanks to his powers, what if he got into a fight on a boat that is more less blow ruined, with a guy who fights with long-distance weapons? well he will have to use his brain to get up close.
Thje rest of the main cast has some nice ways of fighting, a guy who uses three swords(one is in his mouth), a girl who can use a whether weapon for all kinds of odd stuff like make mirage clones, a guy who uses a slingshot and ton of other odd stuff and even the best weapon of all, lying.
Now on to Hunter x Hunter, it has the most complex "ki" stuff and fighing styles I have ever seen in a battle manga/anime but the thing is there are not that many fights in the series. And it takes many episodes to get to the fights and even more episodes to get into the "ki" power stuff(you will know when you get there). It does makes up for the lack of fights in it's great story and characters but when it does have a fight it is epic.
That is one of the more less complex fights but still great, if you like YuYu Hakusho you will like this, since it's made by the same guy who made YuYu Hakusho.

No, Death Note live action was horrible (an understatement) for my tastes. Though I'm one of those who does enjoy unrealistically morbid and out-there stuff - and I liked the anime (including the ending).
But as an update - yesterday I went to see Berserk, Egg of the Supreme Ruler in theaters (we got it for two nights). It was interesting, but really soft in comparison to the originals. It's actually very Russian-like (I do know... they're neighbors and relatives). Which is logical - as Studio 4 C has tied in with the russian scene somehow - not long ago they made a purely Russian anime flick about german-socialist-party zombies and an elite supernatural unit in WW2.
If I would have seen the movie without prior knowledge, I would have hated it (and if I would't of had any knowledge of Japan, I would have been stunned by the yaoi-likeness of it). Similar to the Eva remakes, which were also more movie-like and in worse taste than the series.
But as it is, and without expecting reliving the original, it was pretty interesting. Haven't seen so many Russian influences in any anime so far.

But anyway Death Note's last parts of the story and the ending(manga, anime and movie) is very bad, I say Bakuman had a better last half of it's story and a better ending.
By the way, do you have any update on your manga reading?

Well, I've quite a bit into Berserk (long into chapters that are past the anime), but haven't really read it save two or three nights. Also, as I've got quite a lot of studying to do, manga and anime can wait some.

I may want to learn that. How does it work exactly? You've open one window with Japanese stuff, and another for reading material, a third one for BSN, eat/cook with your right hand, and solve equations with your left? (I won't go farther than trivials...)

One or two taps for watching/reading(like Japanese stuff) and a tap or two for forums(I take a pause from the video/reading thing), one window for studying, I have a TV for background noise, I keep books by my hand if I need them, I run to my kitchen to cook something to eat, then I use whatever free hand I have for the food, I use my mind to solve equations and other stufff like that.eroeru wrote...

Cowboy Beebop. Do watch it. Just be warned that it's sorta episodic in nature and some episodes are hit-and-miss. There are two or three episodes that are really...weird. The reat are great.
And yes. Vision of Escaflowne. One of the best animes I've ever seen.

Luffy sometimes just makes me really angry, but overall the series would've been one I would've enjoyed had I the time to devote to watching more then one episode every few weeks back when it started.
I don't hate Luffy though. But God Almighty does he sometimes act like an idiot -- not a lot, just occasionally. And I don't mean that he is an idiot, but there are times where he has moments that just seem idiotic.
But he's definitely awesome.
