Yeah, the mangaka seems to not to go for any stereotypes and that's great what with a cast this big, from all around the world.

And damn this is awesome.

Wow.. really awesome. What's it called again?

On a related note, I've got 847 yen worth of points in CDJapan's store. There're these e-books I might look into, though they're in Japanese. Anyone to recommend something from the place? It's not got the widest array of manga, but I do feel I could do with a title that has good artwork and not-so-tough-to-master language to it (tho the latter isn't such a necessity as of now).

Just started Durara, seems pretty neat.

I was watching that on Adult Swim when it was on. Can't remember what it's about.

Terra ForMars

And for the e-books, I see they have manga by the great Osamu Tezuka. Like Black Jack, so go for that and any of the other Tezuka manga they have.

All I know about Durarara! Is that in the Japanese version the main girl (with the cat ear bike helmet) shares her voice actress with Kanbaru from Monogatari. And that there is just a very good thing.

Is the dub for Durarara as good as the sub, or should I just go straight for sub?

Watch Baccano! with the dub, since the dub was pretty good.

I've already watched Baccano like 4-5 times. But yeah, the dub for that was way better cuz legitimate wiseguy Brooklyn accents.

So... Durarara is something that isn't worth my time because it's more-of-the same of Baccano?

You won't regret it!

Haven't seen Baccano myself, but I totally enjoyed DRRR.

Well it's not as good as Baccano! and all I really remember about it is the ending theme meme.

So um... Watch it I guess? You might like it?

I just finished watching both seasons of the Sekirei anime and it was a good adaptation of the manga.

The few problems I have with it are the same problems I have with the manga, and the anime only parts of the show work pretty well based on where the manga was at the time.

If you like ecchi stories that have a decent plot then I would say read the manga, but the anime is pretty good.

On a note only tangentially related to this topic, I recently read a very "edgy" short story. It's not even Japanese, but if you wanna read something that might make you cringe (unless you're really desensitized as I'm sure many of us internet dwellers on BSN are) this is actually pretty well written. Chuck Palahniuk is the author (he wrote Fight Club)

You can find the full text here.

Though cheap thrills, it is rather well-written. But I've mostly desensitized myself of fiction. There's a way about your imagination and how you take on or process that information. Plus I used to study medicine (well, to be a doctor or so one'd say). Any sensitivity I still had I got rid of. Was more interesting than hard to do really, with all that corpse dissecting not being half as negative an experience as one might expect from hearing or reading about it. Even the most obvious peeve, formaline smell, is rather easy to get used to.

Figure as much XD And that's cool that you studied medicine/human biology.

But yeah, the part of that story that made me cringe was the candle wax portion for...obvious reasons. The real "kicker" so to speak was a little fantastic, but still kinda humorous in a black comedy kind of way XP

No. Durarara is not the same. Frankly I think it's better. But to each it's own.

I read vol 1 and 2 of Berserk Manga While listening to Nielsen's symphony No.1 & 2 (Very interesting experience!) Guts is more douchbag in the manga! The elf is an interesting addition to the story. The slaying of demons is glorious.

Moreover I watched Episode 1 of Dragon Ball GT. It was OK, and had some good moments. The next episode doesn't seem interesting. I may just pass to Dragon Ball Z.

Dragon Ball GT is a sequel to Z. Dragon Ball, just plain Dragon Ball is the original and the only Dragon Ball to start with.

Oh, and I should say: it's one of the worst dubs in history. Go sub. Dragon Ball Z is ok I guess in dub, but the original's lost all meaning there...

GT is kind of like your weird cousin. You sort of like him, but he's really weird. His mom and dad are pretty cool though.

GT sounds pretty awful. If it was ever made it would totally be a bad thing.
