I swear, the man easily steals the spotlight whenever he comes on screen. And the amount of insight into the human character that he has is amazing. And it doesn't hurt that he's hot AF.

Ok I will admit I have been a bit too harsh in the past couple of  weeks for UBW, as entertainment value UBW is very high. However I didn't watch UBW for that. I watched UBW because I wanted to see a high quality adaption of my fav VN(afterall KnK 5 and Zero where very good and had some minor issues as an adaption but still did a fantastic job). Ufotable failed to deliver and I will voice my complaints. It does not make it better that this is now the THIRD SN adaption (second UBW) that has failed and is giving non-readers the wrong impression of the series and just continues to widen the already massive gap between VN readers and people who only watched the Zero anime.

I never read the VN, what's the problem? The anime make Rin's bunghole seem too defensible?

You know, House, I don't think you've been too harsh, cause I can understand your frustrations in the route being adapted in a way that you don't like. I've dealt with similar issues when my favorite books are adapted into movies.

Also, when you speak of the "wrong impression", to what are you specifically referring? Sorry if you already answered.

Chewin is a special case. He could write bazillion word novels on shows if he had the time. That's why if you like something you get him to read/watch/play it.

 

And her I thought you recommended Ar Tonelico to me as a way to further get to know each other and solidify our friendship, yet know I witness that you only wish to use me as an outside source to potentially get further insights into the medium and to satisfy your view of the games.

Clones, as I said a few weeks ago most people that complain about it are VN readers.

Rex and Chewin are non VN readers and how did they react to the last episodes? They don't complain nowhere as much as the VN readers and they are still enjoying the anime so no it's not bad. Hell it's still one of my top 3 spring anime (not nr. 1 though).

You've already seen that many episodes anyway, just watch it out.

At this stage, I'm really just seeing it as a sequel to Fate Zero, cause of the themes that they have carried over from the prequel, which I'm totally cool with. That said, some of the characterization has been fumbled a bit, particularly with Shirou near the middle, but it has certainly much better. And I also like how they are giving Saber some good stuff as well (don't shoot me House). I will say though that Rin at least has been on point from the word go, so I'm happy in that regard.

So I just realised that June is the best month right now.

 

I mean it's great. Birthday, the last Utsuro no Hako To Maria Volume and then finally 9 days later we get Oregairu Volume 11. I know that it will still take time for those things to get translated (at least 27 days at best) but man oh man I'm already going to go to the deepest depths of the internet if need be to know what happens in those Volumes because man oh man I'm hyped.

Pretty much. Prominently with Saber here, since like with the VN, she doesn't have a role since Fate already tackled that, so someone who comes in from Zero will have a better understanding, and UBW did partially OK with giving her enough characterization in the second season.

 

But of course, one spoils other aspects in doing so, as it has been pointed out.

Rin, Shinji, Shirou, Caster, Archer and Saber are heavily mischaracterized(Saber, Shinji and Caster) missing alot of depth (Archer and Rin) or being portrayed as a different character and feels too much of a generic shounen protag (Shirou)

Interesting. In regards to Berserker, I don't necessarily agree. I felt like they showed the depth of his strength pretty well. In episode 3, Archer and Saber barely scratch him at all, and Archer had to practically drop a nuke to make any sort of dent into him. And when fighting Gil, he forced Gil into using his most treasured NP to bind him. And even when he had wasted all his lives, he had enough will to make one last grab at Gil, fruitless though it proved.

 

I won't touch Caster and Archer, since I still barely have a grasp of all that they could do.
