That's why you read the manga.
Much faster.
Much better.
It is, although 700+ chapters still is a bit crazy

Anyway. Nepu Blu-ray is mine. Look at it.
whoo.

People should watch Gargoyles.
It is, although 700+ chapters still is a bit crazy
Isn't that supposed to be the slogan of this thread?
But yeah, 700+ is quite a mouthful.
Luckily I don't care.
Read OP you plebs!
It is, although 700+ chapters still is a bit crazy
I have said this before but it's very much a "it's the journey not the destination" story.
Like I know it's still a good few years off from ending.
I know I will somewhat dislike, or well to put it better, be saddened by the ending because it will be sad that it's gone. I know it will end on a great huge party, all the plot points and character arcs will be dealt with well, if not perfectly and of course there will be fun specials years after.
Yet I will really miss it once it is done. This series takes you on a journey and yeah you want to get to the end and find out the secrets of the world but you are also happy wanting to know about this or that island with their neat gimmicks and people. Much like Luffy, you don't want to take the easy way and skip the adventures and feelings they bring just to get to the ending. That would be boring and sucky. The manga has strong romantic feelings to it and that's why it became the huge hit that it is.
And I don't know. To sum up the best I can and be a bit more cheesy. I feel it's an honor to be on this adventure that is One Piece, for the years so far and the years to come.
It's kind of like the feeling you get from reading Berserk all these years, you know?
Jojo > Gintama on an episode-to-episode level since Gintama can fluctuate between 5/10 to 10/10 depending on Sorachi's days.
Jo-Jo is horribly overrated.
Dio and the old man are what's saving it.
It's full of idiot opponents and idiot plans and ass-pulls up to whazoo. Also the ugliest dog in history.
Pretty much what Geth said. I could write essays upon essays on the reasons why OP is great, but ultimately what I boils down to is that the series is full of heart, as cheesy as that might sound. This is mainly due to how convincing it really is with all of its messages, and the length of the story actually works in its favor since after several hundred chapters / episodes, it has hardly stumbled on what it is all about (I'd argue that it has actually gotten better as it goes along) since the author has structured the narrative in a very convincing manner, meaning one big adventure that has a natural flow to it.
Of course the series is not perfect, and I could see many here not find it to one's liking. It is a shonen to the core, and quite formulaic in its approach, but ultimately the pros outweigh the cons easily since the series is not without its fair share of complexity, be it about characters or themes. I'd think one would actually have to read the very first 100 chapters to properly get invested into it and get a general feel of what the story is about.
Still, I do think that if one is an anime / manga fan, one should at least urge themselves to take their time and try to watch / read it, since OP will be considered a classic for years to come once it is finished, which it will rightfully deserve.
How dare you.
Iggy is nowhere near as ugly as other dogs Araki draws.

Also the rest of your post is very dumb and wrong.
Drum Island man.
It will make you feel.
Drum Island man.
It will make you feel.
Almost every arc makes you feel, one way or another.
Haha!

OP really struggles with drama. The art style just works against it. I never could take any of the sad scenes seriously, because of the rediclous faces and rivers of snot.
Also, given that it basically operates on the Tom & Jerry level of bodily harm, fights generally lack gravitas. That guy got nuked? Well, I bet we'll see him in a few episodes.
*snip*
Anyways on One Piece I definitely plan on watching/reading it some day. Maybe after Jojo. (which is after HxH which is after Monogatari) I have lot's of things in line.
How about you do everything at once.
I could but then I would just end up putting everything off.
How about you do everything at once but not that.
You're still busy with Monogatari? ![]()
How about you do everything at once but not that.
That is physically impossible.
You're still busy with Monogatari?
I'm part way through the second season. Then i've been busy but now i'm free uh ish.

The series take on drama is certainly quite prominent, since basically every single arc has some sort of dramatic backdrop for the audience to feel emotionally engaged to what the current story is trying to portray. That is not to say that it is a bad thing however, since the series' focus is not simply on its drama, but just an additional component in its story telling, which is made even better since how well they are constructed.
As for the art style, well that is largely subjective. I can see why one would find it working against it, just as you find it to be ridiculous since their expressions during particularly sad moments are so "exaggerated". But I think that is limiting oneself simply to one end of the spectrum, since Oda is pretty darn talented in using the artwork in his favor, since the entirety of the series is quite "grandiose". He isn't trying to portray it as "realistic" but more trying to capitalize on it to work for his favor. It is rather cartoonish in style yes, but thanks to that it opens avenues for more creativity for his works, be it about characters, islands, equipments, powers, etc. The majority of the characters are quite distinctive, since Oda focuses a lot on facial and body expressions / proportions, clothing, themes, atmosphere, and more. It might take some time to get used to it, but once you do you can't help but appreciate it and see why it works for OP.
Not sure what you mean with your Tom & Jerry comparison, since the series does have its fair share of more "impactful" moments, which aren't restricted to character deaths. But if you think the series suffers for its fights simply because people don't die as often as they should, then I can't hold it against you.
Will get to OP one day but that's very unlikely to happen anytime soon if even during 2015. So many things, not enough time for them all
How dare you.

Now that's one very special looking dog!
The series has had a good mix of serious and silly since chapter f**king 1.
As for character deaths.
Oda is not really big on killing his characters off, it's just his way of writing.
He has only done it in flashbacks and when the story needs a character to die to actually move the story on.
Just watched the battle royal between Gon & Hisoka it was pretty good. A little one sided, but Gon got some hits in. I was left scratching my head though because Gon got like seven hits against Hisoka when he went all out, but the referee didn't count them.
Yeah.
You're not going to get strong villains who suddenly become wimps after some 'training.' HxH does not f*ck around with its antagonists.

This, this and this.
One Piece is as shounen as you can get, but it's such a good freakin' shounen.
I never expected anything really that conclusive when I went into it, and neither should you. It's a long adventure about Pirates travelling the world, and as such, it's doing all the things it has to do right. World building, a sense of wonder, islands filled with culture and a sense of identity... really, you literally head from snow to sand, one island after the next, completely different from the next.
And it works. It works so well that I really don't know how to put it other than the sh*t does it right. Not to mention the colourful cast of characters that grow have great chemistry and have a wealth of personality.
I mean, One Piece has GOT TO BE the sh*t when you get GETH of all people to make an honest-to-god serious post about it.

Only a year (lol put two before) into the whole anime thing and I'm already getting tired of

Y'know... that. The character design, the usual stuff you'd see in anime.
It's getting boring.
So every once and a while we get Togashi and Oda who give us original character designs that are fun and different.
And it works for the stuff they want to do.
I always liked it tho.
When weeaboos of all people bash One Piece's art.
Just.
lol

Only thing I'd bash about it is that literally every chick looks for same.
But you can find that same problem in lots of places.
