Basically.
Then he goes off on the same rant every chapter.
The same way "every chapter" in the shogun arc had "the climax."
Yeah Clones, you totally read the wrong manga.

I want to ask something but I know where it would lead so I'll keep my mouth shut..
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Guts ranted every chapter? What Berserk did I read?
I mean...
C'mon! You can hate the guy all you want but duuuude. The only thing that annoys me is that you're scratching the surface! And I know you know your stuff really well. Shyt, your podcast had me an hour of you and Geth agreeing on practically everything. You know what good characterisation is and what's terrible. So it's disappointing when you say stuff like that.
Does that look like a 'strength' rant to you?
Yaay!

Gintama got to the top 5 this week.
It's a shame when something so good gets written off so quickly.. Ah well all preference I guess
Nah man, thing is, I think if Clones gave it another chance he'd really love it.
Just like Gintama.
Cos the shyt he doesn't like from Gatts is essentially stuff he grows out of. Hell, that very chapter is really the jist of Gatts realising there's more to his life than surviving from day to day; that there's a future he can hope for and perhaps even reach with the Hawks.
Everything before that was simply living day by day on his own strengths through his own skills. How could a guy who was betrayed by his own father figure trust anybody but himself?
So it's no wonder that when his own progress just crumbles away upon the Eclipse, he becomes the most bitter, apathetic man in manga history xD
Saying otherwise is painting Gatts like that douchebro Sauske.
And that's a no no.
The same way "every chapter" in the shogun arc had "the climax."
Yeah Clones, you totally read the wrong manga.
Every second chapter. Don't blame me, the thing says it itself.
It's almost like I'm not a manga guy.

Well then.
Never bother reading Vagabond in that case xD
I wonder if he could even get past the first arc. lol
Guts is very jaded when we meet him. Personally I liked him early on but mostly because like Homura he's a character where you have to pay attention to the cracks in his personality as apposed to what he's usually saying since he's a character that's built up a wall around himself due to the events in his life. What's great about watching him grow is he's the sort of person who genuinely questions things like companionship, his place in the world and what he wants. When you get to know him you realize he is a very caring individual, just one who has had that part of him hurt repeatedly.
His character arc is wonderful imo, especially later in the story when he really starts to come into his own and find people he can care about, which is not easy considering what he has gone through and what caring/respecting his companions in the past has gotten him. Jaded characters are ones I like if they're done well like he is but if you can't see those emotions for what they are then it's very easy for the reader to write him off as a typical macho **** the world kind of protagonist until later in the story when those cracks widen.

One of the first fights (against the bald dude who's name I can't remember but fought with a staff) was one of my favourites in the manga. Like they literally did nothing but the tension was still there.

This.
I've gotten back to reading the Sora No Otoshimono manga and holy s*** things have just gotten real. I'm on chapter 55 now.
The Ikaros Melan arc. Melan means "Black, or dark" Hence, I'm Black Impulse or Impulse Black.

Mmmm, his character development has been just by the 150ish chapters that I've read been quite amazing. He's still crazy but his experiences have shown him a few errors of his ways. Will keep dragging my feet with Berserk and see what madness will teach him some important lessons later down the line

The whole arc with Inshun is right when the series starts to take off.
And it just gets better as you know.

The key thing is he questions things and you can see he spends a great deal of time thinking about certain things.
I think it's important because he's struggling between letting his rage take over and just going berserk for revenge and hatred, and his desire for companions and the person he cares about most.
In other words: Hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng duality ![]()

Nah.
Vagabond is terrible.
Can't even bang his girlfriend.

I really liked his battle with the 100 members in that one clan. It wasn't just handled like they normally would in anime where he'd be cutting down 10 guys at once effortlessly. You really felt like this is a battle where he is being pushed to his absolute limits and it still has a human feel to it

With the Witcher 3 I might just get to that re-read.
Thing is.
I want to collect 'em all.
Like you have.
Early Berserk scans have the worst translations.

Some of them are so bad it's funny though!
Like that one Chewin posted a while back: "Just say one word: I will sacrifice them" or something like that ![]()
It's a great series to have collected. Once I finish collecting Akira I'll have all 3 of my top mangas.
Edit: Also yes, love the art style! Not as good as my Vagabond art mind you but it's close :3
You read Real yet?
You read Real yet?
Who? What's Real?
lol that's not Jojo's Bizzare Adventure!
I need to get around to Jojo. Where can I watch it?

Will totes get One Piece volumes tho'
Gonna buy Bakuman's set too... cos I like the manga.
Silver spoon... uuuh Genshiken....uhhh... Jojo
YY Hakoshu if the ending isn't that terrible.
And Hunter x Hunter... MAYBE.
Ugh, so much to buy so few souls to sell.
You read Real yet?
Nah, but it's on the list.
If I'm gonna go into more Inoue stuff it's gonna be Slam Dunk first.
