I just finished watching Kotonoha no Niwa (Garden of Words).

It is probably the most beautifully drawn anime I've ever seen. :kissing:

Well, bmw convinced me. I know what I'm doing tonight after work. lol

Oh! So it's a movie. Either way, 46 minutes of awesomely drawn anime? Count me in.

Son Gokou turned into a giant werewolf! lol
The original dragon ball has a good dubbing. Pilaf's VA is quite lulzy!

The English dub is awful!

Half the jokes and character-portrayal were taken out.

Oh, and he's a monkey.

If anyone's anime has insane production values it's actually Shinkai's. *Or* the rebuild movies.

I know. I just listen to the dub and read the subtitle in this case! lol

Damn, that anime looks good. Look at the city structures and that rain ... but I normally don't watch high school or modern day related anime. There must be (some) elements of fantasy or sci-fi in order to attract my interest.

As to Shinkai - yeah, he's always doing tame romantic ones, yet there are sci-fi elements to some of his work. But if you're not into romance, doesn't matter. It's all there is to them really (thematically... artwork/production is of course the other main reason for watching Shinkai's).

It really excites me to watch stuff like that. I really think us anime fans are going to be in for a treat in the coming years. Production quality seems to get better and better with each passing year. As someone who *really* enjoys production quality, I'm really happy.

Whereas I hate production quality and am thus disgusted by this bold new direction.

I find it insulting that high quality is of low quality.

What *is* quality anyways? Is it a state of being, or but a word?

I'm reading this manhwa (Korean Manga) called 'Nineteen, Twenty-One' at the moment. Tbh though, it feels weird reading a manga left to right, not to mention having to get used to the Korean honorifics and nicknames etc.

I'm really enjoying the art style though (it's almost all coloured too!) and the story so far is quite charming~

If you're into romance, sure.

Ever seen other Makoto Shinkai movies? It's most probably very similar to, say, 5 cm per second. I'd recommend, even though I'm not its biggest fan.

5cm was really bitter sweet tbh. I both would and wouldn't call it a romance. Of course the underlying theme is the couple and their relationship but it's more of a brief snapshot, if that makes sense. A slice of life, that focuses on the lives of people that eventually grow up and apart. It made me sad afterward. (I'm a sucker for a happy ending)

Yae, that was a better and detailed explanation.

Personally, I view romance irl much like Shinkai. But it doesn't have to be that bittersweet and tame. Shinkai's "heroes" are suckers for sighful and tame sadness. They get used to loss, they don't struggle nor smile even.

Well, MTRC SNAFU was pretty interesting today. The show continues to interest me with the sort of unique take it has on the romance genre.

Durara is really picking up, and there really isn't a character I don't enjoy as of episode 7. I like how everything is connected in that show. Are the people who made that show connected to the people who made Baccano? It seems that way just by the soundtrack they use.

I just might watch 5cm per second tonight. It's been on my "to watch" list, along with many others, but since it's a movie it'll be much easier to make time for it.
