After the last chapter, how many people here reading it, think its most likely that Kishi is either hitting on some future social issue and the nature of a future where the idea of family isn't exactly what we think of it as today? I mean to me it looks like he's pretty heavily laying on the idea of Cloning vs Procreation, and Nurture vs Nature. I felt bad for Sakura, not because Sarada isn't technically her daughter by birth, but in her rage and grief Sarada basically disavowed any feelings for Sakura who raised her as her daughter despite knowing the truth. Of course if this is a happy ending story at some point Sarada will come to understand that its not who made you but who raised you that matters, but still I thought she was smarter than that. Also I seriously doubt Sasuke cheated on Sakura intentionally, he seems to honor bound to simply ignore his vows (assuming Sakura was in fact being literal when she called him her husband) and have an affair. Even at his lowest point, he never really broke his promises or word and in a twisted way was only trying to avenge those he thought were responsible for ruining his life. I suspect Karin likely used some left over Sasuke DNA and artificially created Sarada in one of Orochimaru's labs, using her own body to perform the deed so to speak. 

 

Also I really hope something becomes of this and Sarada is shown to be unique because of her Uchiha x Uzumaki heritage. It would put her on par with Bolt who is obviously a Hyuuga x Uzumaki crossbreed and will likely have some unique talents of his own because of it.

No Lotion, you are merely criticizing it based on your personal tastes, and not on some quoted fact. What Oda does with his art-style is using exaggerated elements to properly convey individual's emotions, which is not restricted to sadness, but also happiness, disgust, anger, fear, etc. That is why you will have individuals crying like it is raining, laughing and having their mouths widen double in size, getting scared and having their eyes open wide, and so forth.

 

According to your logic, specifically during emotional moments, it ruins the scenes since their facial expressions are so exaggerated in style, and due to that no one will be able to take them seriously. Except you only have to do a quick google search, and you will find dozens upon dozens of threads of people getting emotionally invested during certain critical moments, even when people look "ridiculous" when they are crying. 

 

And it is not like OP is devoid by "normality" in its emotional scenes.

But the point still stands, it doesn't remove the emotional impact for people, simply because you think that it does for you.

 

Let me put it this way - it's like suspension of disbelief.

While it doesn't make it impossible for people to be invested, it make it harder for most people and it does raise the necessary treshold. Raising it does no service to anyone.

Heck, emotions can be conveyed in many way. One can simply have the words "sad" float above a character too

Someone just uploaded the Utsuro no Hako to Zero No Maria illustrations for the last LN and this is pretty much my reaction.

 

 

Even though we can't see that much from just the illustrations (although I have a good idea what will happen) it's only strengthening my hype. I need my Based MC and best female heroine damnit!

 

The wait for the translation is going to be so very painful. I should remind myself never to start reading something that isn't finished.
