A arm tentacle tries to grab Gil; after Rin frees Shinji. Gil uses Ea on it to protect himself and Shirou gets hit by the aftershock (there was not even a hint of Rho Aisis so how Shirou is going to get into UBW at this point is a massive question) Avalon healed him since it didn't destroy his head.

 

The idea was nice (and in fact better) but how it was done was just :/

Like this change does fix some eyebrow raising stuff from the VN and will make some things feel less of an asspull(you know what I'm talking about ), but it also creates some big questions that need to be filled and it was just overall done poorly. Good idea, poor execution.
