So Fate has continued to deliver strongly, and it is nice to see that it hasn't lost its touch. This recent episode was great, visually pleasing (Ufotable upped their ante with this one). Can't believe last episode is next week. Been only anime that I have been following on a weekly basis. Have to start a new show. Probably gonna watch Seraph of the End or Oregairu.

Well it is a bit convoluted with Gil. I mean, him in UBW could be considered bad by our moral standards. But for me personally is not about him being bad or good, but simply him having a surprising amount of depth to him, despite coming across as rather generic.

 

But Fate universe (especially F/SN) is a bit of a deconstruction of several elements, Shirou as a shonen /harem hero, Gil and Kirei as villains, etc.

Anyways other then maybe Lotion (and hardly anyone here ever particularly puts much emphasis on what he thinks anyways) I don't think I can say you've gotten as much **** as you think you have, at least not **** that was intended to be taken seriously.

I can possibly answer one of those questions for Lotion although these are my own thoughts and I wouldn't presume to talk for Paragon.

 

On Shirou:

Shirou comes off as the typical "I want to save everyone" character that you see in a lot of shonens. In reality he is quite scarred and that mentality he has is not particularly a good or a healthy one. He takes it much too far. The story takes that idealism and shows the flaws with it as well as the darker elements that form it.

Assassin is almost dead at this point, he will disappear soon and thus parts of his body under his clothing (he shows them to her  before he fights Saber in the VN) where already gone,one of his hands is pretty screwed up and his sword was not in good shape. During their fight(which the anime pretty much glossed over) the sword is bent. So when Assassin goes to do his move, there is a gap that Saber see's and because Rin is her master(which puts Saber close to her true potential) she is able to dodge it barely and slash him. Assassin considers this a honorable death as he was able to die in combat.

 

Anime ignored it and thus it now feels like an asspull.
