FMA is just as decent as FMAB. Both are good in their own right because as you know I separate the two in my mind. The show doesn't have to follow the VN/Manga to a "T". They can be a little different.

I will admit I'm very bias with FMA(2003) series as I didn't like that they diveraged from the manga(it annoys me alot when studios do it) and I just found Arakawa's story far more interesting, enjoyable and more memorable then what some random smuck at BONES did
To be fair it only diverged when it got caught up to the manga and passed the source material. At that point their hands were kind of tied.
I like what they did with it. Brotherhood is better but regular FMA is still pretty great in my books too.

They HAD to diverge, since the manga was less than halfway through its publication at the time. Nonetheless, they had Arakawa's explicit permission and approval to do so (she gave her unofficial blessing by having them put her fictional persona in the series as a cameo). And it's not like the 2003 series is worse off for the differences. It's a strong series in its own right, just different from FMAB. Having seen some more of Brotherhood, I would rank them both very highly as of right now. I'm assured that Brotherhood remains quite stable in terms of quality throughout the run, so I'm sure it will remain as good as it is thus far.
tbh, I actually dig a number of the changes made for the 2003 series. I actually think that the

I didn't say Brotherhood was bland. I said that the design of the Gate is a bit bland. The visible aesthetic appearance of the Gate is lesser in Brotherhood than it is in the 2003 series, IMO.

My mistake. Misread.

They didn't have to diverge at all, this could have all been avoided if they had just waited, they didn't because they wanted money. I'm not a fan of companies doing an adaption on half done series and thus either doing massive story diverges or ending it at some random spot and then later on doing an "enhanced" version that follows the manga.
Tis a pet peeve of mine.

I didn't like how sappy they made the show.
And anything I did like about it was ruined by Hitler.

I don't see the big deal in telling a story in two different ways. Divulgence helps some stories stay fresh, imo, and really shows the impact of certain decisions made b the characters in it. When done tastefully, of course.

I would rather see a good divergent anime adaptation of a manga rather than wait nearly a decade longer for another adaptation of the same series. that way, we get 2 good ones as opposed to only 1. Not only that, but we get to have 2 distinct versions of the same basic story. I fail to see the problem. And it's not like Bones just made **** up as they went along, Hiromu Arakawa was pretty involved with the design process of the 2003 series as well before she left to continue the manga.

They picked the perfect chapter to end on.
Sure it's open-ended.
But it's the best kind of ending we can get out of Togashi at this point.

Himoru was like pregnant at the time, working on tons of stuff as WELL as the anime.
What a woman.
They could have still screwed up the ending of HxH since it is "ongoing". lol
Good thing it was Madhouse.
Thought they gonna end it at
Thank god they didn't.

The Homunculi felt generally more interesting in Brotherhood -- They didn't need to rationalize a tragic backstory or reasoning for their motivations as they are creations of the worsts sins of man.. particularly one man, Father, whom also generally felt like a stronger antagonist than that of Dante™ (from the Devil May Cry series). Certain other characters (Hohenheim) didn't quite pay as strong of a characterization as that of Brotherhood. Already wrote half a page of why Brotherhood is so damn great a while back. Need to save it I think so it doesn't get lost to obscurity.

Know what Smash needs? Alicia Florence.
Beating up all these video game characters with her paddle. It would be GLORIOUS. And hilarious. Just imagining it, I can taste the bitterness of the rabid smash fanbase getting angry that some random unrelated anime character took a spot that could have gone to something more relevant.
I'd never use another character again. Just her. Ara Ara ufufu-ing my way to victory.
Well there are people that want Goku for some reason.
Ryu and Roy are great btw.
Don't much care for Mewtwo or Lucas much myself. But y'know.

Pleasant surprise.
Since the first season ending wasn't really an ending at all.

Because you offended our hero somehow. Apologize now, and maybe he'll forgive you.
