Watching Shingeki no Kyojin right now.
Simply awesome.
i must say, this last episode was pretty intense. The slow pacing of the battle/defense of trost arc aside, they're doing a good job of making even the more minor things seem epic. Also, Armin's speech/pep talk to Erin in the last episode was awesome.

Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon , Naruto , Avatar ,Bleach , Full metal alchemist....some others.
I do however collect the Mass Effect comics now AND have always collected a comic series called Priest.
I just really can not get into anime much anymore...any suggestions on a good Sci-Fi themed anime?

Try Gurren Lagann. It's not too much of a divergence from what you've already seen and it has a very good English dub (I assume since you used the term "Americanized" that you probably have seen most things in English). It's a sci-fi/mecha series.
yeah I kind of prefer things in english as long as it is well done. Thanks I will look it up

Well, you know my opinion. Neon Genesis Evangelion is the best thing that's come out of anime.
As to suggestions - I'd add a couple.
Black Lagoon, Paranoia Agent, FLCL, Clannad, Honey and Clover, Baccano!, Tatami Galaxy, Katanagatari, .hack/SIGN, Noein, Higashi no Eden, Ghost Hound.
All are classics spectacularr.
Baccano is excellent! Definitely check it. And Fooly Cooly (FLCL) is kinda... I don't know how I feel that series, honestly.

Cardcaptor Sakura is fantastic.
And it was all about cutesy love, even with the somewhat age inappropriate relationships, the gay couple, lesbian cousins and the actual age inappropriate relationship with the pedophile teacher.
I don't remember any of that happening... But then I haven't seen it in a very long time lol

As to Gurren Lagann - yeah, I don't know how I forgot that.
@Legate
Do try Eva out for yourself. It is a classic, and those who see something relating to relationships or simplicity or childish/teen themes they are trying too damn hard. There's none of that cliche'd stuff. It's the darkest and most artsy-serious-philosophical series I've seen, so to say...
@Fooly Cooly - first time I watched it, didn't get it. Second time - mindblown fantastic! Also lots of symbolism but this time of "coming of age" and related kinda-Freudian stuff.

Will watch that episode today.
I had just yesterday looked for a new anime to watch, stumbled on Shingeki no Kyojin and thought I'd give it a try ... boy did I sit with an open mouth through the first episode.
Finally again an anime with an artstyle, world, story and level of cynicism that I came to miss from the anime for quite some time. Went for a straight eight episode marathon, it's just that good.
Can only recommend this anime. Obviously I haven't read the manga so I can't say exactly how that one fares, but if the anime is any indication, the manga is worth it all the way too.
On my must see list.

Yo I am this thread's Guru so I can help you out.xNYROx wrote...
Sadly I have never got into the true anime stuff most of the stuff I have watched/read over the years has been highly americanized and most of them are pretty common ones everyone has seen at some point....
Cowboy Bebop and Trigun are really good Sci-Fi series, they also have good dubs that are not americanized edited crap. And for being old dubs that is a lucky thing. They are great for people who are new to anime. Trigun's animation may have aged a bit, but the characters and writing are still great so you should be fine with it.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes is also a really great series, hell it is the best anime show ever. However there is no dub, so if you want to watch it you have to go for fan subs.

And you didn't recommend Ghost in the Shell? Or Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann? Or Ergo Proxy?
LOL, and you consider yourself this thread's guru. Shame, shame on you!

Ghost in the Shell is great, but um.. I think it helps if you have some anime, good anime experience first. Same with Ergo Proxy.

It's nice to see the Major in an outfit that doesn't look too ridiculous. Unlike the Gits:SAC swimsuit. God that was awful.
