What the hell are you watching? Short of OVA's I've only seen three new shows, one is a female in a male harem, the other is a girl that..well I'm not sure wtf is going on there minus talks of grave diggers. And then you had this one samurai show that was meh.

Spring was awesome summer might be, but of stuff I've SEEN noooo. Some stuff I've yet to SEE that might change that opinion though. Least mushibugyo is still airing.

To note I'm going on what I have WATCHED not read about.

My professional Anime watching began with 'Legend of Galactic Heroes'. Then 'One Piece', 'Berserk' and finally Dragon Ball! Earlier with some single animated movies.

Why do so many people list Transformers as an anime? Transformers was not an anime, it was an American product, or at least Generation 1 and Generation 2 were.


Anyway, I have to admit that shows like Dragonball Z, Pokemon and Digimon made me aware of the Japanese animation market (I was roughly 12 years old).

As a kid (roughly 6 years old) I did watch many of the older anime shows such as Sinbad, Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura, but as a kid I was never aware that these series came from Japan and not from America or Europe. I had no clue what "anime" meant until I was close to 12 years old. That's when Dragonball Z, Pokemon and Digimon came on and that's also when I started to become a JRPG fan and not long after a J-rock fan too (I no longer listen to that J-rock crap though, with the sole exception being Dir en Grey who I still like).

Well they're not the best anime series and they're pretty populair and overrated (Digimon was okay though, at least the first season and Pokemon was also fun the first season).

I'm not so much ashamed of the fact that those 3 show introduced me to anime, but I feel like I'm so "normal" and "boring" in comparison to some of you folks who list more original anime shows which I never even heard of as part of your anime introduction. It makes me wonder how in the world those (to me) unknown animes were the introduction for you folks.

Not just Armada, there are plenty of Transformer animes (and most of them are absolute sh!t, including Armada, which is also crap). But the original Transformers was 100% American.

1.) Inu to Hasami (not bad, tho as I said, not spectacular either - a 6 or 7 in my book, depending on what's going to happen later)

2.) Turning Girls (good art, nice josei-themed humor, overall an original shorts' series)

3.) the Kamisama and'a gravedigger show you mentioned (I think that when a show doesn't at first reveal what's what, it's a positive point - besides, all those weird ideas about how the world works are great to see)

4.) that samurai one you mentioned (Gifuu - and I'm rather interested in its ideas, be as they may the somewhat ordinary "legendary" Sengoku era themed ones... besides I rather like Sengoku and Bakumatsu style and eras overall)

5.) Senyuu 2 - no comment

6.) Free - didn't watch it through, yet it does seem quite original 'n fun in what it does. Hilarious, from a more personal point of view. Tho, granted, taken more seriously it's a female-oriented type of thing.

7.) Tower of Druaga - didn't quite watch it through. But it's watchable at least.

Didn't try the reversed harem thing. Even classic straight-out harems are always to be ignored in my book.

Yet most shows this season don't seem as haremy as they have been previously. And yes, more's to come, and that'll probably tip the scale a bit more towards "better than average".

Granted, I wasn't a fan of the previous season.
(some Gargantia was cool tho, and Aku no Hana a superb one).



@Evangelion snide - well that's just plain off-mark and off-topic. Eva's world is a different one completely from FMA. Besides, what *really* happens to Shinji (translated as faith, mind you, yadayada), is much more of an existentialism-based mind-****, none of that in FMA (yet lots of it in the real world mind you).

+ Shinji never cried like a wuss. When he did, it was either in the horrible dub or when in total terror. No bedwetting nor such plain stuff as "plot revolves around giant robots and hot girls".
