Well decided to read the Monster Musume manga instead.

Wow, it was a lot better than I expected! It was hilarious and even educational a bit (I mean, I didn't know spiders get high on caffeine)

Great stuff. Now I have half a mind to start reading OP. That would take awhile though.

Seriously, could Waver have lucked out anymore with his summon? He was the weakest master going into the war and he ends up being the only one to walk out unscathed, not only that but the experience made him stronger. That was all Iskander.

I honestly thought he'd die pretty quickly.. Oh Gen you do so love to toy with our expectations

That scene with Waver and Gil was wonderful.

 

And Gil's reaction was superb.

 

I do love a villain that isn't a top tier asshat 24/7

 

Bet he was thinking "I wish Kotomine-kun loved me as much."

What made his response so special to me is he didn't have to even break character to do it. Me and House got talking a while back and I remember House mentioning how he said the right things that Gil needed to hear (or something along those lines) and it's so true too.

My own FZ quibbles, House already knows them:

I have to say that right now where I am (episode 7), SN is more appealing in how the Fifth War is much more cloak and dagger sorts of setups. Now yes, FZ is appealing to see the sorts of things that lead up to the Fifth War but as of now I can't quite call myself hooked. Of course slogging through the Fate route was a necessary evil to get to the good stuff in SN and I know I'm still only on the first season but yeah, all the sneaky beaky matters in SN are more up my alley.

Now I will say that I'm also mildly working on the LNs too and the things I find a bit lacking in the anime are there in the novels (so again why monologues are important imho) so there's a strong chance it's just a case of a decent but not quite stellar adaptation.

Tho' tbh one of the best things about this arc was Kagura in TK2010 mode

 

 

Then she goes off to say "I can only serve Cao Cao."

 

She was brilliant in this arc xD

I also read all of Lucky Luke (and the spin-offs for Rantanplan) and Oumpah-pah (the latter is quite a while back though (eight years or so?) ... will have to plunder my father's comic library when I visit again).

 

 

Also, if you haven't read Hägar the Horrible, you're pleb-tier comic connoisseur.

I love how he goes from a scared kid who cowers in the chariot and even faints in one of the first episodes to standing beside Rider when they get chased by Saber to finally standing up to Gilgamesh himself and telling him that he's Rider's servant.

Even better.
