I just thought it was a well told story and what it maybe lacks in ambition I feel it makes up for with its execution. Basically its about a child soldier (mech pilot) that is raised in an space faring Orwellian society and ends up stranded on an unknown planet (Earth) and has to reconcile his values with the values of the locals while trying to assimilate as well.
Ewwww, mecha.
Eh, maybe I'll watch it at some point. Right next to Evangelion.

Haha. To be fair there isn't that many fight sequences. Its more about the main character finding himself through the relationships he forms.

So I stayed downstairs playing FF and watching Land Before Time and stuff.
'till she fell asleep.
