Also, I'm on episode 121 of HxH and I'm ready for the ant arc to be over with. It started out great, but after four pointless filler episodes( the palace assault ) where nothing was accomplished I don't know if I have it in me to finish this arc. I get it, ant people be strong, but three to four episodes of Shoot getting his @$$ kicked was just pointless. Haters gonna hate, but I don't care. Hopefully things will start to improve if not then I just might skip ahead to the last episode or two of the ant arc.

Despite its awful I find myself drawn to it. I walked away from the abyss content in the knowledge I would never return. Yet, I feel it calling for me again.
Taunting me. Dragging my curiosity by the foot.
But if I do that. I will be leaving a piece of myself behind.
I don't want to watch it again. But I am unsure I can lose the small want to see how it ends without doing so.
But I know they won't perish in a bus crash.

The thing about the palace assault is that there are a ton of actors on the stage at once. To show each of their roles is important and develop them all properly, the consequence is that the pacing does grind to a near halt, yeah. I find it appropriate, even if it was frustrating at the time. The worst part for me was the whole episode about the taco. Or rather, I thought it would be the worst because I was getting rather impatient for better things (I watched this when it was weekly). But it was actually a pretty good episode.
As far as the four episodes about Shoot, as I recall there was a lot more going on than just Shoot. They frequently jumped to what other characters were doing, because like I said, they're all kind of important, even if you don't think they are. The struggle of Knuckle and Shoot and the evolution of Youpi are far from pointless. They all get good character development there.
Anyway, you're not wrong to be frustrated by the pacing here, but you would be very wrong to skip to the last couple episodes, because there's an episode before that which I consider one of the best episodes in anime, period, for what it does.

Seriously though.
They were anything but pointless, they underline the struggles and character development of each of these characters as they fight for their lives.
I'll be seriously disappointed if you just 'skip ahead.' Even that dude Welfin gets more character development than some shounen characters get in 700 chapters.
