To some extent. There's another show, based on a manga by the same author as Bokurano called NaruTaru, which definitely falls into the trap of just being gratuitously depressing/shocking without having anything to back it up, but I think the former holds up well as a good all round bit of storytelling that just hapepns to be very depressing. I'll admit that, by the end, I was a little apathetic towards what was happening due to the sheer amount of "it got worse", but it wasn't close to beak a deal breaker, and overall, I still it was a very good show, as the positives more than outweigh the flaws.
I was just thinking about NaruTaru. I didn't even know they were related. Hah.

Like its opening. What do you mean it doesn't represent the show at all?

The opening to NaruTaru is doubly trollish. You see, despite the YouTube comments, it's not actually a lie. While tonally, it doesn't represent the show at all, it is full of spoilers. Pretty much every significant plot point in the show appears somewhere in the opening in some way or other....

I can see where things in the OP could be spoilers. That's pretty common, but usually it's so devoid of context that it doesn't really spoil anything for new viewers.
