The last four episodes of Seirei no Moribito were very strong and didn't add anything to my list of gripes with the show aside from the fact that the last moment used a very recognizable stock sound effect for the eagle that flew by.
Anyway, I guess this means I have to do a review now.
The show is basically a coming of age story surrounding the crown prince Chagum and his bodyguard/adoptive mother/resident badass Balsa, who's totally not what you'd get if Motoko had a spear and was medieval, and who are both being hunted by the emperor since it was found out that the prince is possessed by a supposed 'water demon'. The setting gives some serious Jade Empire vibes and that's one of the things I love about it, though characterizing it this way may just be my ignorance of eastern mythology blending them all together. Or was that what Jade Empire did? But like Jade Empire, this doesn't seem to be directly based on any specific mythos, but simply a pastiche. Stuff like karma and duality and classical elements and fish people, you know, the usual.
It's not an action heavy show, but when it does have action, and you hear music like this or this play, it's fantastic. I've said it each time I've mentioned the show, but the production value with regard to the animation and the soundtrack is top notch.
Ahh... the characters are also good. Yeah. That's a thing. I especially like how those Royal Guard types develop throughout the show and how it basically affirms Balsa's philosophy in a pretty natural way despite it seeming dangerously idealistic at the beginning. Most of the secondary characters get their time to shine even for the ones who don't necessarily develop much.
The pace of the show slumps a bit in the first half and a lot of little things not necessarily worth individually mentioning grated on my nerves in that portion. Actually, around halfway through, I felt pretty disillusioned and wasn't looking forward to another 13 episodes of the same for this supposed classic. However, by the end of the 26 episodes, I can see why it is considered such. The second half really picks up and is much better than the first IMO. Though I can't discount the necessity of the first half for, you know, development or whatever. Some of that development didn't tickle my fancy, though.
Anyway.
And this is all I really wanted to say here, though it seemed mandatory to write some sort of review.
It's good.
Go watch it.
Reezy, go finish it.
I might as well start it over. I watched it when it was first being broadcast on Adult Swim. They never even finished airing it so it was lowkey not my fault that I didn't finish it.
it looks like another japanese samurai fanwank. Skip.
Puddi, that's the one with the kickass spear fight, right?
I thought it was a movie.
Gonna go ahead and list it.
If Puddi suggests it it's probably good. And weird as hell.
Got fairly far in Greed Island. Had its highs and lows, and then I saw this:
Spoiler
ಠ_ಠ !
Liked the "Bomber" bit and a few others. Finally got time for one big marathon tonight. If I can get to episode 100 by morning, switching the avatar to something appropriate.
Edit: Just finished Victor And Loser, my personal thoughts.
If you can get to 102.
That's when Komugi comes
And the Ant Arc becomes something out of this wuuuuuurldu.

I doubt it.
Been on my list for a good few months now so it's possible I'll give it a look when I'm done with HxH in a few weeks

F*ck America.
Got Splinter is such a glorious singer.
Ussop's follow up from Splinter's magic is weak af
Kingdom finally got some Kyou Kai. Only for a single image but it's more than what we've gotten for over 2 months.
Otherwise the chapter tied up a few loose ends and set the story free to move to the next arc.
it looks like another japanese samurai fanwank. Skip.
Not enough of those IMO

so cute
Kingdom was great, nothing bro hasn't already said.
But anyway
Seriously.
Who the f*ck is gonna pick up 20th Century Boys before I have to image spam this thread with it?
Jeez.
A manga so good it has its own theme song and stuff.
@Sim
No--obody!
Well, at least until someone feels like it...

Huh so Matthew Mercer is Levi and Law? He keeps getting Hiroshi Kamiya's roles. lol
Justin Cook as Kid is pretty good.
I like Kyle Hebert's Capone.
Hawkins and Apoo are okay.
Rest are fine.

Huh... Yusuke's still a voice actor. Too bad he's never in anything I watch for more than a few seconds.
Araki is such a lad

Question, JoJo's wild adventure, it is a manga right? Not just a fighting game obviously..? I can't find it anywhere.
If the manga is as crazy as any of the fighters in Saltybet (especially Alessi) I wanna see some good action.. COMBAT action that is!
