I hope he's not being serious. A hydrogen/helium atmosphere couldn't be ignited with a match. Earth is bombarded by small meteorites that burn much hotter than a match every day. Jupiter got hit by Shoemaker-Levy and didn't combust.

Nevermind that helium and hydrogen aren't exactly a very reactive pair between the two of them, even if you can force catalyze a reaction, tough luck trying to sustain such a reaction.
Igniting an atmosphere like that with a nuke is the same sort of laughably idiotic doomsday talk as LHC going to destroy the world with black holes.

Pretty sure you can't ignite Jupiter with a nuclear bomb either.
The amount of energy in Shoemaker-Levy was (a lot) more than all of our nukes combined.
Much less a match.
Helium and hydrogen wouldn't burn easily. Helium itself isn't very reactive to begin with and hydrogen by itself won't burn without an available chemical it can react with (helium doesn't fit).
That said, comparing that with Earth's atmosphere is hardly relevant as it's composed significantly different and even though the chemicals in our atmosphere have all they need to burn rather nicely, to ratio is completely off. Same as pure gasoline won't burn as spectacularily as most people would belief unless you strike a perfect balance between gasoline fumes and oxigen.
The earth comment was about frequency, not composition. IF a planet with a helium/hydrogen atmosphere that could be ignited with a match actually existed, it wouldn't last more than a day thanks to the first stray meteorite that comes its way.

I edited the post, because I somewhat circled around the point I tried to make as I was affirming your initial statement, just in case.
So in the end, what everyone should take from this discussion is that Yang is an idiot who evidently cheated to pass his physics and chemistry courses because he's knows nothing, or his superiours are even bigger idiots to let someone who's so hilariously stupid take command.

No no no, Puddi.
I don't mean that.
I mean...
Look at Fidite's post "BACKED WITH NUCLEAR MISSILES"
So I used that.
Cos it's the only scene where he says like 'nuclear missiles.'
Either way.
It wasn't for science.
Think LOTGH gets tons of sh*t wrong with science stuff IIRC.
But it doesn't care.
Cos it's not for that.

Oh hey!
I rewatched the battle to redeem my LOTGH (maybe?)
The plan wasn't to blow up stuff.
It was to cause a huge updraft with heat.
So that the ships would crash into each other.
Is that okay?
(not being bitter here, just thought it was silly since a LOT of heat and stuff is happening with engines, lasers and lighting in the atmosphere. So I guess it's one of these pics that are misrepresenting.)

Nah I'm pretty sure stepping on a lego actually would cause Jupiter to ignite.
If only Yang knew...

Nah man.
6,000,000 megatons was released when the big-ass comet hit Jupiter.
So.
A nuclear missile to the surface of the planet was cool for what they wanted.
But yeah.
Light a match was gross exaggeration since they were shooting lasers, other missiles and for some reason (lighting?) Was in the atmosphere with hella strong winds.
Yang was like "all it'd take is a nuclear bomb on the surface to cause some destruction" but he wasn't in command.
When he saw the bomb being fired he advised the actual idiot to ascend (they were deep in the planet btw.)
He was like "naw man."
Yang said 'yare yare' and got AttenLAD to 'trip' on the ascension controls to save his sh*t.
So there we go.
Yang saved.

Ugh, 5 days attendance to a rock festival does take a toll on oneself. Luckily I only do these types of stuff once a year.
What's up guys! I trust everything is well. Gonna catch up the last couple of pages since I left, meaning 2902.
