Has anyone noticed that there are a lot more series about unpopular main characters that don't seem to have the optimism of series in the past? Stuff like My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU and It's not my fault I'm not popular. Do you think that it's a genre shift done on purpose or do you think it's going to be a more common thing now that the newer writer's perspectives are different?

I think it has to do with the audience really. Characters like 8man and Tomoko are relatable to the target audience. A lot of teens and young adults feel isolated like those characters so manga publishers and anime studios pull in big bucks by giving people stuff they can relate to.

Based on the comment section, it certainly does seem to be working. To a certain extent, it's working on me too. Though things weren't as bad for me in high school and now in college, I can certainly relate to their issues. The realistic approaches they take to these new animes is sad, but realistic.

Nearing 300 pages.

What fascinates me that general comic/anime/games threads, which talk about all anime/games/comics aren't the biggest threads.
No, the biggest threads are MLP (1600) and RWBY is increasing at the same speed.

And then people call Otaku or comic nerds obsessed...

Currently I'm still watching Dragon Ball and enjoying it with laughs. General White and Silver are beaten and Goku is yet to deal with General Blue.

lol again @ Kame the Master Roshi!

Ahh, Tao Pai Pai and Master Kirin inbound. Along with the next Budokai Tenshi arc not far away. One of the best parts in the anime.

Honestly soooo few shows I like this season and all of them air on two days lulz. Which allows me to catch up on one hell of a backlog.

Mind you, it's revealed that Jirou only slowed the planet's rotation for an instant, but what makes the feat even crazier is that the planet is several times the size of Earth.

I still wonder how Vegeta feels about Goku seeing Bulma's ladybits years before he ever did.

So my brothers and I finally got our mom to watch anime, and we started her on Shingeki. For the first 3 episodes she was like "I don't like this, it gives me a bad feeling, I don't wanna watch this." Then after ep 4 she was like "That was pretty intense." at first, but then said "I don't wanna watch this, it doesn't feel right, I have a bad feeling." Then, after episode 5, it took her a few minutes to lift her jaw from the ground XD

She's up to ep 8 now and swears that the show is "Pretty awesome."

One more. :D

Oh, do yourself a favour and don't watch the Ranma Nibun no ichi anime. Not that it is bad ... but I haven't found a single version of the anime (original and various dubs) that has bearable voice-acting. Seriously, most of the staff sounds like someone's squeezing a hamster to death.

The InuYasha anime is actually pretty decent. And you will ABSOLUTELY FALL IN LOVE WITH GotS!!!

Note that GitS:SAC is canonically an alternative timeline so do not try and connect the movie with the series. But both are absolutely stunning in every way.

Twelve Kingdoms is quite good, though it somewhat drags through the first six/seven episodes, but after that it gets really good.
Other anime to recommend are "Desert Punk", "Ergo Proxy", "Shingeki no Kyojin" ("Attack on Titan" being the international name), "Basilisk", "Ninja Scrolls" and obviously the evergreens: "Akira", "Wolf's Rain", "Dragonball", etc.!

You know, I've never watched Akira. Is it the master of all pieces like people say it is?

It's good. Can't really say much more about it. The art style is typical, the story thoughtfull, but not really deep, characters are well written, though the anime falls prey to numerous clichées.

I suspect nostalgia makes the movie for most people. But it undoubtedly is one of the roadstones in anime and a good movie in its own right.

As the name implied, you probably want to bleach your brain out after watching each episode, so you probably don't remember the trauma of the previous episode.

Honestly, I used to like Shounen Jumps anime, but everything is pretty much the same now that I've given up on it.

Anyone watching Silver Spoon anime? I'm glad that Hiromu is making a slice of life instead of another action anime. I'm obsessed with that genre currently, so this is such a nice find. I didn't know an anime about farm life could be so interesting.

Now that I think about it, wasn't Steins;Gate like a slice of life gone in reverse?

Finished watching Garden of the Worlds.

Short, but good.
Still do prefer 5cm over it.
