Even a show that DOES deconstruct something still has to play the tropes Chris. Gurren Lagan and Madoka which are deconstructions and reconstructions(of mecha and magical girl) all play by the same rules alot of times. No different with the ant arc.

Powers ups are sadly part of every shounen, no matter if it's a deconstruction , a good one or your generic one.

Just to say one little thing I want to say.

Cell was the Perfect Life Form.

But what really is the "Perfect Life Form"?

Dragon Ball went with it meaning being a huge a-hole. JoJo also did this but much better.

HxH asks what the Perfect Life Form is. It brings it back down to something human, but no less complex as the Perfect Life Form like all humans, questions life and what it means to be the Perfect Life Form and what it means to be.

I'd also like to add that I'm not really trying to 'one up' one show over another -- I'm not trying to speak DBZ's case in terms of it being quality if that was a thought that struck some minds.

That's how all shows/game/movies and so on do deconstruction. It's also the easiest thing for someone to pass up thinking it's generic. If somebody mentions something is a deconstruction i'm willing to give it some extra leeway.

One more thing.

Maybe.

JUST MAYBE!

HxH is not your average shonen.

But is your average shonen.

AT THE SAME TIME!

Eh, perfection = stagnation, which is obviously an oxymoron given the ever changing nature of evolution. There is no such thing as perfection, in the end it's a completely meaningless word.

Don't worry, I can tell.

What I am saying is the King, who is based off of Cell by the way, is the more human and realistic version of the character.

The high power of him means little next to that.

Now you are thinking like Togashi.

Wait my mistake

The perfect game series that is Dragon Quest is not on your mind 24/7.

There's also the larger difference between deconstructin and subversion. When a trope is deconstructed, its consequences are subverted by playing them true to life rather than going with the conventional depiction, but not all subversions are deconstructions. Like I wasn't even billing this show as a deconstruction of shonen, I was merely pointing out its tendency to play around with traits of the shonen genre.

As much as I like deconstructions.

I sometimes do feel the word gets used a bit too much.

Most of all on things that do play around with tropes but don't really cut open and get into them like a true deconstruction would.

What's a Vita?...

Oh you mean one of those Legacy consoles of ancient times we at SCE have already long since forgotten about. Seriously though, screw Sony's negligence of the Vita.

Dem three Vita mentions at E3.

The lack of Vita Nepu at E3 was and still is an outrage.

That's because alot of people jump on bandwagons really or fall into hype too much.

Sure.

Like Gon, Uvo and Pitou are all Goku-like characters that play around the character type in serious and dark ways.

Yet I don't really think you could say they are a true deconstruction of the character type.

Sony missed out on using Noires PS4 drive for marketing. Silly Sony.

A true deconstruction makes it clear from the get-go that it isn't playing itself as a straight example of the genre anyway -- Metal Gear Solid 2 subverts what any average Joe thought they knew of the spy genre, sequels, video games, history, memes. Watchmen, however, is a deconstruction of superheroes as it grants them realistic and often unfortunate motivations, goals, and results, but both made clear from their opening pages that these were not your grandparents' comic book stories.

I just say it contains deconstruction elements in that case.

Non Non Biyori S2 first episode is exactly what I wanted it to be and what it should be. Adorable, fun and very relaxing. As long as the show don't stray from these 3 things I'll be having a very lovely time with this show and good scores and mentions at the end of the season.

Nyanpasu!
