Yeah all it comes down to here is HxH.

As great as it is and still a black sheep of shonen manga that makes many moves that other popular shonen manga would never do.

Is not a deconstruction to me.

Just to say one little thing I want to say.

Cell was the Perfect Life Form.

But what really is the "Perfect Life Form"?

Dragon Ball went with it meaning being a huge a-hole. JoJo also did this but much better.

HxH asks what the Perfect Life Form is. It brings it back down to something human, but no less complex as the Perfect Life Form like all humans, questions life and what it means to be the Perfect Life Form and what it means to be.

Yes.

Spoiler

 (Huge image is huge so, spoilered)

I have nothing to add to the conversation as I still haven't started HxH but when the opportunity to fawn over Jojo's take on the perfect being comes up, you just don't let it slip you by.

Okay I'm going back to being tired now.

Ging is how every father should be tho.

Now that I take issue with. That man is an abysmal excuse for a father.

How could anyone say he's a good father and not be joking?

Does Ragyo post here?

I'm a bit slow this evening.

Doesn't just happen to you.

House also made a similar post back when I watched HxH and I didn't realize that he was joking at first either  :P.

if somebody told me that FFXIII gets good several hours in, I'd say 'pull the other one'.

Oh, unless I am mistaken, didn't you pull this card once with Persona when a certain person here didn't dig the first few hours due to "Emo trash"? :D

Naturally, if certain pet peeves hinders the overall experience, it becomes a slog if you aren't enjoying yourself. I myself didn't consider the first episodes of the arc as something that was necessary to be moved over, and while I had my own gripes as well, they do build up and have some significance down the line, which was what I expected it to do right from the beginning.

When people here state that it gets good later on, it isn't as much as it is getting away from the earlier episodes, as it is to experience how almost everything is tied together into a nice ribbon.

It's more or less how these seemingly powerful abilities are handed to these creatures like a free coupon, that effectively makes them able to handle even the odds quite easily with 'supposed' strongest Hunters in the show; That alone seems like typical shonen.. or at the very least what is negative about the genre. Like how your average shonen like Dragon Ball, or One Piece, there'd always be someone who is effectively stronger than the MC simply because he has to be. Having said that, I do like how the MC in this show isn't grounded into some bizarro logic where sheer willforce alone grants him inexplicable power-ups.

Well I don't see the issue being that monumental, considering how it at least is explained why they able to get their power ups, which is through their reproduction methods.

Of course, there are rules and limitations that one just have to deal with, which is only natural. The power up is a vital role in why they are fearend in the first place. But as I said, that is a personal preference over the level of magnitude it has, and whether it is a pro or a con for the overall arc. I am sure you'd appreciate what the arc has in store down the line and you see how it progresses.

Non Non Biyori S2 first episode is exactly what I wanted it to be and what it should be. Adorable, fun and very relaxing. As long as the show don't stray from these 3 things I'll be having a very lovely time with this show and good scores and mentions at the end of the season.

Nyanpasu!

/snip

Just got done watching the episode myself and yes!

I hope we'll keep getting solid Non Non Byori episodes because no matter what happens those episodes always cheer me back up!

That person didn't even play the game let alone get past the intro sequence. Note, that I also said "several hours" into the game and not just the first few hours, but technically, if one isn't enjoying the first few hours then they most likely won't enjoy the rest either. Anyway, there's a larger difference between that situation and my feelings towards this, just sayin'.

I can't say I liked it all that much, nevermind the exceedingly power that the main villain possesses which in of itself feels like a-typical shonen. Why is he this powerful with so little effort beyond the obvious explanation of him being the villain so he has to be? I don't know if I can take any more of this slow dull exposition of tripe. But meh -- I might watch more or just skip the whole thing, but I'm not really sure about either option.

Damnit youtube, stop giving me good recommendations *sigh* ... why do you only ever get good recommendations when you want to do something else, but when you're bored, you get crap?!

Anyhoot, I'm not usually a fan of AMVs, but this one is catchy as f***

And I finally see why people like Gargantia.

Whatever the case, your argument is that you'd need to suffer through something to get to the good part, which you personally doubt will happen, based on personal pet peeves and despite the majority here saying it gets good.

Have ye faith.

Eh, this is starting to circumvent the argument. Not gonna repeat myself a third time. Do as you please.
