I saw you commenting on Hinata from Angel Beats!. What do you think about the series?
(personally I much prefer the pure Maeda Jun flicks, like Kanon and Clannad)

I was actually talking about Hinata from Naruto and how bad the series treated her character.

But as for Angel Beats! I don't care for it.:?

Has anyone watched Kids on the Slope? Shinichirō Watanabe is the director of the anime. Yesthe dude who directed Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. It's great so far I've only seen three episodes so far and ofcourse his love of jazz and classic rock just oozes in the anime. I think it's currently on episode 9.

Have a look

Aah, yeah, I got confused with you mentioning "Kishi".

Angel Beats! was done by Seiji Kishi, while Naruto is by Kishimoto. :)

@Skelter

I really love the series.
And I had no idea it was produced by Yoko Kanno. It figures, as with all the good music and such.

I've never been a huge fan of Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo, which are really more "western" in taste, but Sakamichi no Apollon I can easily get into, the more for the "Japanese-type" quirkiness.

The manga was also good.

But yeah Watanabe is a great director and Yoko Kanno is fantastic when it comes to music.

@eroeru Yeah I call Kishimoto "Kishi" because I have zero respect for him.=]

Legend of Korra is boring me and I found Kids on the Slope and glad it took it's place.I'll have to watch the rest later since I'm trying to watch Aliens 1-4 before I see Prometheus.

Try reading the manga, the series only has 12 episodes, while the mang has 5 volumes right now.

I'm currently watching Madoka Magica. The magical girl genre is one of my favorite genres. But unlike other magical girl series, Madoka Magica does not screw around; seriously, don't let the cute anime style fool you. It is really depressing, dramatic, and has a lot of shocking scenes (along with shocking character death).

All I have to say is.... Wow >_>

But at the same time I've also been watching Magic Knight Rayearth along with the Ghost in the Shell series all on my Xbox :3

Madoka Magica was a silly but fun show. What with cute scenes like this how can you call the show depressing?

=]

Anyway Magic Knight Rayearth is a great Clamp series. And since I am in a Masaaki Endoh mood as of late, here is his cover of the theme song.

Because f**k yeah Masaaki Endoh.:wizard:

Yup, the rather obvious similarities prevailed.

Here, it's Yuki Kajiura-san.

Again, I must mention that
Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto is one helluva show. I really love the political-historical vibe, the mystics' and mythological epic-tale-like affiliations and old-poetic language usage in the VA.

Aside from the wonderful music, of which the opening was also noticeable as Yuki Kajiura. ^_^

^^ Go through them chronologically.

Meaning, take the movie (1995) first, then SAC, and then the rest. The first movie is the best anyway (in my opinion).
Though it does tell a stand-alone story and the other installments have been more like prequels, it will give the exact right "taste" for the franchise - quite perfect for a start-off. :)

Cool, I'll do that. Thanks for the help. :D

 ^^You're welcome. ^_^

Anyway, I just now watched a bunch of 4Kids dubbing clips, and I've got to ask, why the hell would anybody do that kind of dubbing? Do the majority of americans want their kids to grow up on moronic text, and become idiotic themselves (yet patriotic, that's all that matters, right?)? Right??

Because American kids can't be exposed to death, nudity, intelligence (especially woman intelligence), violence, morality, Japanese culture or a sensible plot. Not until they turn 13 and see their first porno. Awwww yeeeeeah. Trust me, I'm American. I know how stuff works around here.

Nothing turns me on more than a show that innocently kills off its cute magic girl characters. :kissing:

1:05 is the creme de la creme.

You can blame Al Kahn for all of this. He was the chairman and CEO of 4Kids and he was a big fan of americanization(even if American kids know about stuff like rice, sushi and English writing...). And boy was he stupid, he once said at a manga panel at the New York Comic Con this "kids today don't read, they read less today". Even if he was "right" it was stupid of him to say that at manga panel, Later on someone at Viz said manga was a great way to get kids back into reading, I agree with her.

About a year after he said that he said somethingabout the Japanese manga industry, "that manga is dying in Japan". I understand the fact they have to edit anime on TV here and that's fine as long as we get uncut DVDs or something. But 4Kids never really did that at all and worst thing was they didn't just edit anime they f**ked anime up.

Sad thing is 4Kids did have some good voice actors but they never used them in the right roles. And when they did, bad dub writing or random accent they wanted the character to have would f**k up the character anyway. Nowadays 4Kids do have better people in charge now but it's too little, too late for them to get any anime shows or"fans" back or new viewers.

Now for the One Piece dub I don't blame 4Kids or Al Kahn 100% for that, I blame Toei a lot since they wanted 4Kids to make One Piece "Pokémon level popular" in America... It didn't work for a lot of reasons, reasons Toei should have known about.:?

the 4Kids dubbs are actually pretty good, sure there are meant for 3 years old childs, but atleast the VA are decent. I once watched One Piece in german, it was my most gruesome experience, seriously.

Was it the first German dub or the new one? I believe they had two dubs for the show like America with the new one being better. Or I might be wrong.:?

Anyway they did have a original theme song that was better than one we got.

I don't know, I never heard of there beeing 2 dubs, but also I don't really cared. I just happened to see some episodes on TV some tie ago, and there the dubbing was horrible, I watched about 20 episodes (hoping it was only temporaly) in the Water 7 and Enies Lobby arc so I didn't even saw that opening, with was surprisingly good I have to say, sadly unlike the other german openings.

I was never really into anime as much as some of my friends, but my favourites are -

Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Akira, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Elfen Lied, Avatar: The Last Airbender (I know American, love it regardless of western/eastern production), BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad.

Has a Son Gohan avatar and yet does not have DBZ as a favorite?

GT and Buu series get me too angry.  Lmao.  Shouldn't of went with his original idea of letting Gohan surpass Goku, but fans cried out :crying:

Cell series is amazing, still get chills everytime I watch Gohan snap.
