I actually thought it was quite sad. I dunno I felt more bad for Lawrence than Holo in the ending. Atleast Holo will have their children and can meet new people after he is dead. Lawrence is either dead with no afterlife or goes to the afterlife with the reality of being alone for eternity since his lover and children will likely be immortal.

 

I'm glad they didn't go the easy way out with making Holo mortal or something. Although I wasn't quite sure on how her resurrection skills worked. If there is no nearby wheat does she perish then? I imagine up in the north wheat doesn't grow and the seeds from Lawrence's wheat will eventually rot right. I guess she could die then if she wanted to?

 

Fun anime tho and the business grad in me enjoyed the economic theme.
