Well House you'll be happy to hear this. That figure I ordered from Amazon came in and it's completely defective. The box looks like someone took a baseball bat to it, the stand is broken and won't sit up right unless I tried to glue it on and the bow won't sit in her hands properly and now I'm arguing with the seller to return it.

Worst 230 bucks I ever spent. I'm pretty pissed off. "brand new" my ass

That's a load of crap! I wish you the best and hope that they take it back. Although the fault might not be with Amazon, but the shipping service they chose, they should take it back.

Richard Bison's a yandere.

That's kind of a weird way of looking at it but I guess that's not the weirdest thing I've heard..

I mean Ippo and Sendo, the freaking things I hear.

Could be worse, they could have been denied entry to R18 Island.

Did another marathon.

19 episodes.

Finished the exam, killua and arena arcs.

I guess it's safe to say she's hooked.

So this chapter of SnK was pretty great.

I mean it did nothing for the plot what so ever.

Other than another mystery around Eren's father that really doesn't need explaining.

But if Shadis will now go along for the ride and become another character in this.

Then it's some good developments for a side character.

Ah yes.

Back when I made serious long posts.

The dark ages.

I bookmarked this

Really? So when you were reading the first chapter or watching the first episodes, did you pick up on any similarities to another famous anime series? Boy sets out on a journey to follow in his dad's footsteps and become a "Hunter."

When you first heard of the series, what did you think the characters would do by "Hunting"? The first chapter doesn't really give off a good indication as to what their world is really like; Togashi purposefully leaves it vague. After reading the first chapter, did you ever wonder what exactly Hunters do? What is this license supposed to provide for them? Why Gon has to be 12 in order to take the exam? Furthermore, he takes it in order to follow in his father's footsteps? Whom also is the "best" Hunter (according to Kite)? The new anime series even has Gon say that he wants to become the world's "best" Hunter too...haha. Does this sound familiar at all?

It's Pokémon. Hunter x Hunter is supposed to be extremely reminiscent of Pokémon in the beginning. The setups are near identical. Boy departs on a quest to become something that, truthfully, the reader doesn't fully understand. Meets some friends along the way, makes a rival. Wants to find his father. All of these things were characteristic of Pokémon.

This is something that might get lost in translation, but the word "Hunter" is always written using Katakana in Japanese. But by no means is it exclusively used to refer to the profession of actual hunting in Japanese; there are many other terms used frequently. Instead of becoming "Pokémon Masters [ポケモンマスター Pokemon Masutaa], the charaters are becoming "Hunters [ハンター Hantaa]. I'm fairly certain that the parallel and similarity between the words is supposed to be there.

There's similarities in the setup, but the first chapter also makes it known that things are going to go horribly wrong. Other than Killua, Gon is the only child taking the Hunter Exam. Becoming a Hunter is an adult profession, unlike a Pokémon "Master." The first arc slowly starts to introduce how deadly and scary their world really is. And then during the fourth phase, the true implications behind hunting start to reveal themselves. Gon literally has to allow several people to die in order to survive, and he's only spared because an enemy shows compassion to him. The show starts to show more and more of its hand and eventually starts taking its character psychologies incredibly seriously. Everyone who becomes a Hunter is literally crazy, in some way. They're extremely flawed. And it's not exactly the noble profession Togashi outlined in the beginning. Togashi takes something childish (even down to the stupid title... "Hunter Hunter"???] and applies a serious worldview to it.

Most of the other arcs actually try to take a common shonen trope and spin it on its head. For instance, the "Beyond" in the newest chapters and Beyond Netero are obviously channeling One Piece. The Heavens Arena Tournament (Tenkuu Tougijou)? The Tenka'ichi Budoukai.

Wow, tough luck. I've bought some anime figures from Amazon's third-party sellers without any problems.

Now I just pre-order them from amiami.com since it's cheaper than jlist, play-asia, and other sites.

This was from one of their third parties. I've boughten a number of things from Amazon before and never really had trouble, go figure this happens with by far the most expensive item I've boughten from them. The piece is complete garbage, and completely unacceptable for something that was listed as "new" hell, I'd be upset even if this was listed as used. I'm going to end up filing a claim if the seller doesn't agree to take it back today. I'm really upset about this whole thing though. It's far too expensive a piece to write off and I was so excited to get it too. I'm really hoping I can get my money back.

Overlord's second episode was pretty good and a lot more fun than the first.

Character interactions were pretty great and learning more about every character was great. I don't dislike any of the characters and the fact that MC is a skeleton is somewhat interesting in its own way.

Curious how MC will handle enemies considering this is the whole MMORPG real world kind of deal.

Also, demon Loli entered the stage .

Just found this on /a/

Why are school children still being exposed to garbage like Romeo and Juliet instead of masterpieces like Toradora?

The love story in Romeo and Juliet is romance at its most superficial and one-dimensional. There's no substance or depth or chemistry in the interactions between the two main characters. They exchange cliche love dialogue which mostly consists of them adoring each other's good looks. The basis for the attraction Romeo has to Juliet is that she's a generically handsome and polite young girl. Yet, it is implied that there is a deeper emotional connection between the two that has never been established because they barely even know each other.

Toradora, on the other hand, is the greatest love story ever told. I can't think of any other work of fiction in which two lovers fit together as well as Taiga and Ryuuji. The flaws of one character are perfectly complemented by the strengths of the other. Ryuuji’s practicality and low-key attitude is the perfect yin to Taiga’s abrasive, loud, and fiercely liberal spirit’s yang. Each finds comfort in the other as well, as Ryuuji’s paternal instincts being a support to Taiga, who’s family life is nonexistent, and her consequences-be-damned attitude liberates Ryuuji from the pressure of having to always act so mature.

I think that the only reason why garbage like Romeo and Juliet is still regarded with such reverence is because of historic, rather than artistic, reasons. It was highly influential in the past. Therefore, it must be great art. It certainly was influential, but it's still a superficial love story which Shakespeare actually stole from people like William Painter and Arthur Brooke.

Don't care if the guy is actually trolling or not but that was great .
