@Lotion: Madoka is a deconstruction. If what you hate about Magical Girl anime are the tropes and conventions, you'll likely be pleasantly surprised.

I've heard good things about Madoka. Hear it does for magic girl genre what Evangelion did for giant robots. Just a Shinjiesque character is not involved. And it doesn't do a gainax ending:

Just finished chapter 49 of Nisekoi.....EEEERRRMAGAWD. I swear, the author does this on purpose. Have an amazing scene, pad several chapters with filler, have some small developments arise right as you start to question his choices, then BOOM, another amazing scene.

I heard the author never meant Madoka to be "edgy" and deconstructive, it just sort of happened. If this is true, I think the author's a bit of a cynic.

Like his series' answer to "Why on earth would you ever, EVER, give magical powers to teenage girls of all people?"

NGE ending was just silly. It was rushed and i heard they even ran out of budget.
The end of Evangelion however was pure genious. It's the reason why people are still discussing it and series nowadays.
One of the few times where deus ex machina ending is treated properly. "looks at ME3"

End of Evangelion was more thematically consistent I will give it that much over ME3. Can't say I cared much for it though,  I've already mentioned that's largely due to my disdain of Shinji in general.

I haven't watched it yet, but I hear it's similar to a few things I enjoyed. At only 12 episodes, it couldn't hurt to give it a try.

It has no ending. It just ends.

The manga goes on past that "ending", it's not really that good tho. Could have been better.
