There's no need for them to actually go out there and capture all of Iserlohn when they only needed to capture the "brain" of the station. Really capturing more.. THAT would be stupid

Season 1 is the weakest from what I can tell and what I've been told.

It's sort of just there to weed out the idiots and allow the true players to rise to power.

Mmm, it's easily the weakest of the 4 seasons

Yeah.

When something really stupid happens in LOTGH.

It's basically everybody but Yang and Reinhard's fault.

Like that next part.

Fidite.

Prepare for the monstrosity that is Andrew Forke's plan of "liberation."

Yare yare.

Iserlohn is pretty much guarded by McDonalds temp workers at best.

Oh God... Andrew Forke X3

That guy was a special kind of cringeworthy even among the crazies and idiots in LotGH

Not to mention the Rosen Ritter are like Age of Empire elites.

I swear they could just hit Isernholn until it died.

Building a gigantic fortress without compartmentalized fail saves to make full use of its size and personel is what's really stupid.

Deathstar weapon? Check. It's own defense fleet? Check? Half a million personel? Check.

When infiltrated, locking down everything which effectively incapacitates everything, yet not inexplicably not secure enough for a couple soldiers to just breach their way through anyway ...

Anyway, good to know the show is supposed to get better.

And that's what happened.

I would have thought it prudent to make sure there would be a way to reverse any lockdown in place in case of emergencies, accidents etc.

Also

These guys are professionals and not to mention very good.

It's hardly out of place for them not to be able to do these things.

It demonstrates, at least in the narrative, their competence and skill.

Sort of like typical shounen writing.

When a big bad is build up to be reaaally bad but the bigger bad that everyone is scared of beats them up.

But anyway.

S1 is full of idiots that have kept this war running for 100+ years.

Even the existence of Isernholn is pretty insignificant and the show is aware of all these things.

The story is aware of these idiots as S1 doesn't go an episode without Yang or Reinhard + company complaining about them.

Once the top dogs take their rightful place the game changes.

It's pretty much shown in the first two episodes when Yang takes the helm and the entire nature of the battle changes.

Iserlohn's contingency measures are as effective as it gets when it comes to such an expansive of a fortress.

But being in a possession of such a powerful weapon, and having endured and withstood for several years without a breech, tends to lead to overconfidence and at severe cases--indolence. The crew at Iserlohn are victims to such--and being ridden of higher ranking personnel, will cause issues. Despite serving a critical stand point for the Empire, one would naturally assume its maintenance would require the utmost usage of security measures--so that it wouldn't fall into scenarios like it did. But the failure of several aspects, both mental and failure of distinguishing the strategy used, is what led to its downfall.

There are some aspects that are simplified in the assaults, but I wouldn't say that it makes the overall scenario "make zero sense".

It doesn't help that two of the main people in charge of its defense were in conflict with each other as well

So to conclude.

Enjoy 1 S1.

Since S2 and ESPECIALLY S3 are godly.

Exactly, felt this was pretty clearly showcased by the show. It's McDonalds temp workers that has not actually been tested beyond the same old stuff that happen every now and then. Once someone actually tried to understand Iserlohn and its weakness they obviously were outclassed something fierce. People that are not required to think don't suddenly regain this magical ability in a state of emergency. Super sloppy but anyone with half a braincell and possibly basic reading skills would only need to open a history book and find countless similar scenarios in actual history. The show just took it and put it in space

I finished Fate Zero Season 2. I'll probably do a write up on it later, but I'll go ahead and spoil it by saying 10/10. I liked the way that everything concluded, everything had a sense of finality, yet it's only the beginning.

I find the fourth season the weakest for many reasons. Season 1s incompetent admirals and leaders was at least on purpose and to drive home many messages. Fourth season suffers from some bad pacing issues and a lackluster big battle that is one oft he biggest parts of it.

Look at Iserlohn, it makes perfect sense it went down like that for many reasons, which Chewin pointed out.

Hey all I'm saying that it's kinda annoying that many parts where tweaked or changed in both Ufotables Zero and uBW to favor Saber. The thing with Berserker is a very annoying one in Zero. Same with not properly showing just how much of a disadvantage Kiri truly was and why he only won because of Avalon.

Yeah, even with Season one's flaws there is still a lot of good stuff there. The civil war in the Empire, the Free Planets Alliance "invasion" of Imperial Territory, and just a lot of the world building background stuff in the FPA that I thought almost serves as a warning to Democratic societies of today.
