Hey I don't dislike it, I love it. It's a big reason why the ant arc is one of my fav arcs ever. Gon did however make a choice which did cause strong emotions from watchers.

Kingdom this week with a solid plot twist that change the playing field completely and it was good to have a chapter that took place outside of the main characters and what they should be able to know.

He pretty much pulled the very last card that he could. Can't see him finding another way to "win"

Pitou was no more bad then Gon in my eyes. Even before Pitou killed Kite, Gon showed utter hatred towards the ants and joy in killing them, which even made Kite worry.  Just as Pitou killed humans for food, Gon killed them because they disgusted him. They where both in the wrong.
