Finished the Sky Island arc!

 

What can I say? There is just soooooo many things going on in this arc that I can't begin to explain just how awesome it was and why it's my favourite arc so far.

 

Like, was it the emphasis on the romance of adventure? Or how Luffy and company were doing things for their own reasons other than for others? Hell, it even goes onto the question of God and his existence as well as freaking colonialism. But I think what touched me most was how the world of One Piece was suddenly blown up into this place filled with mystery and history. Forget about how it 'expanded' in introducing new places or people; but focus on how it became deep and rich with lore. How for 400 years the interpretation of a single event changed the future dramatically. There's a real Tolkien-esque essence to it that I can't put my finger on.
