Anyway Earthbound, yeah, this thread has good taste overall.

 

I saw your list, you have some good to okay ones already done.

 

But oh my god do you have an abundance of AMAZING anime to watch.

 

PMMM is pretty much on your 'best ever' list so you have that one down.

Here's a random outta da blue recommendation that you can't go wrong with.

 

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

 

I think you're bound to like/love it regardless of your preferences and one of the greats.

 

And here's a warning.

 

Never go near the One Piece anime. If you're going to tackle the awesome beast that is One Piece (which is very very good btw.)

 

Go for the manga.

FMAB is amazing so it's absolutely a show I would strongly recommend to watch sooner rather than later to see just what anime can offer. It got so many things!

I will say that my manga game is a bit off though. I think I've only ever read two series, Monster Musume, which was at Grav's behest, and a work in progress, Franken Fran. I can't for the life of me remember how I got introduced to that one, but its one messed up series. And I love it.

Shin Sekai Yori

Legend of the Galactic Heroes (a war drama heavy on politics, this one's my favourite.)

Monster (Silence of the Lambs meets anime basically. Again, an amazing dub.)

Cowboy Bebop (basically stuff you watch dubbed... again.)

Samurai Champloo (again... dubbed.)

Welcome to the NHK (dub's amazing here.)

Fate/Zero + Fate/Stay Night UBW 2014 (they work better if you watch it in that order.)

HunterxHunter 2011 (one of the best shounen out there.)

Psycho Pass

Musishi + its sequels.

 

Comedy/Shounen/Romance

 

Jojo's Bizzare Adventure 2012 to 2014 (you WON'T regret this.)

Ouran Highschool Hostclub (light hearted romance and harem done right. Again the dub is great.)

Gintama

Spice and Wolf (another amazing dub. Despite it looking like Otaku fetish trash it's the complete opposite.)

Chuu2 and its Season 2

Tiger and Bunny

Anything by Studio Ghibli

Jin Roh (a pretty dark and serious one.)

 

I'm not that fond of movies so that's all I know aside from the obvious Rebellion.

 

I put so much focus on 'good dubs' because of how hard they are to find.

Franken Fran is that awesome mixture of bizzare and unsettling.

Not at all actually. I'm back at home right now with abysmal internet, and the original plan was to save my streaming till I get back to uni in September. But all these recommendations are going to have to move things forward a bit, methinks. So I have that to get around to also.

To the list it goes! I didn't mention movies in my original list actually... I've seen all the Ghiblis bar their last two, I think... and the girl who leapt through time also. Enjoyed that one.

I think Sim's infamous for his LotGH and Berserk endorsements even out of the anime thread. With enthusiasm like that, its hard not to be convinced.

 

Who knows? Maybe I'll give it a go... just as soon as I'm out of crush depth from the recommendations I've got.

You got tons of murder, rape, death and destruction, eldrich horrors, psychological horrors and so on and so forth. If you're ok with that stuff then it's a great story. But if you get easily squeemish on disturbing media it's best to avoid Berserk because it has some seriously effed up moments.

 

Still, amazing series. One of my favorites for sure.

From what I've seen Franken Fran does have a lot of that similar kind of messed up. Though Berserk does tend to take it a bit more seriously I think. There's a fair bit of rape in it which is probably the worst of it imo.

 

Again, it does have an amazing story though if you do get into it. Based fantasy series IMO.
