I didn't really care to continue watching Gurren Lagann after the first episode but I'm keeping my eyes on this.

The first episode of Hajime No Ippo: Rising is out.
Now I actually have a show to watch weekly again, yay. The tearjerker flashback was a bit of a turn-off, but when we got to the actual boxing? OhmanohgodohmanohgodohmanohgodohmanohgodYOOOOOOO!!!

Looking at my personal history with it I'd say Gurren Lagann is difficult in that regard. All my friends told me how much they loved it, and after a while agreed to give it a try. After the first episode I said "well, it's probably not for me", but for the sake of my friends I continued watching. Episodes 2-4 didn't do much for me either, and I was really close to quitting, although I was still curious why everyone else was so fond of it. My friends were all like "you have to keep watching just a little longer" and so I did.J. Reezy wrote...

This is the *only* sports anime that's ever had me hooked.
I just couldn't really get interested after watching 6 episodes. I kept flashing back to Prince of Tennis and One Outs for some reason while watching itJ. Reezy wrote...

I forgot to finish watching that. It's a bad habit of mine. Some Geth wrote...
Slam Dunk is the best b-ball series.

I really do want to watch Toonami because I was such a big fan of it before it was cancelled but every time I see Naruto and Filler No One Cares About being shown I just say "forget it". Even classic shows like Inuyasha and Cowboy Bebop aren't enough (for me). They need to provide dubs that haven't been on TV dozens of times already. Soul Eater and SAO were nice steps but it needs to continue.Foxxie x Lightning wrote...
Been watching Toonami instead of getting online for anime lately... some bad dubs, but eh. I'm getting lazy.

Episode 5 I found quite good and intriguing, and for the first time I thought that it might actually turn out to be to my liking after all. Then came episode 6, which I thought was a joke -and a really bad one at that- and I decided to just give up on the show. Yet my friends once again begged me to watch just one episode more, and reluctantly I agreed. I was sure it was wasted time, though, because an anime that hasn't won me over after four episodes usually is.
Well, what can I say - Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is on my personal top 5 animes of all time list today.

Don't you find such fanservice/pure T&A a turnoff from an anime? I can't really deal with it myself; just curious.
