Tenjou Tenge is surprisingly dark. I had pegged it for some sort of martial arts themed school life series with action, gags, romance and a bit ecchi humour based on the first episode ... but oh boy, one MC getting utterly brutalized on the second episode and (heavily implied) rape in the third episode already.

 

Definately interested and may gear up being one of the few very lucky spontanous picks that turn out to be real gems.

 

The original manga is definately on my to-read list as I doubt only 24 episodes + 2 OVAs tell the entire story.
