Budadadadum. Budadadadum!▬▬▬.◙.▬▬▬═▂▄▄▓▄▄▂◢◤ █▀▀████▄▄▄▄▄▄◢◤█▄ █ ███▀▀▀▀▀▀▀╬◥█████◤══╩══╩══BudadaDADUM DUH DUH DUH DUMM!...I don't really know what I think of this series so far, I mean watching the military murder dragons entertaining, sure, but this show is going to go on for another 18 episodes, and I'm sure the novelty will wear off before then. So far, I haven't found any of the characters to be particularly interesting, and the SDF has just been portrayed as so obnoxiously heroic so far. I mean, black and white morality can make for a pretty entertaining war story if not a deep one, it worked pretty well for James Cameron's Avatar and Star Wars, but there's something that goes beyond the black and white morality that I find troubling about the SDF's portrayal, the way they do no harm to the civilian population and win hearts and minds at the drop of the hat, this "new world" is quickly starting to feel like wish fulfillment pandering to the likes of George W Bush and the Project For a New American Century. Why don't they just have the people of Italica tear down a statue of the Emperor while they're at it?Anyway, so far most of my enjoyment show has come from the humor derived from the absurdity of the premise, but unless they start to develop the characters soon or drastically improve the story, this show is going to get boring fast.
Read the manga. A lot better.

Aww poor Clones. You're going to crush his soul.

Are you sure? I keep hearing that the anime is worse than the manga because it leaves out all the rape, but this show reminds me far too much of SAO so far for this not to seem like an improvement.
I am going to eat my words..
Spoiler
Well hopefully you'll love the Ant Arc.
Like it's supposed to loved.

I could care less about the rape, it's about how it shows the unique character and perspective of Rory as an unfamiliar character with alien views, which is depicted by her way of handling the situation that happened to involve rape, murder and such, something the anime completely omitted.
And how does it remind you of SAO exactly?

Well there's the plot, they both have a nerdy protagonist who lives for their hobby until he is transported to a super cool new world where suddenly he's a cool, useful person and constantly be rescuing people from the series' cartoonishly evil human villains, it just seems like an overly indulgent power fantasy at times that is still fairly enjoyable due to the novelty of the premise.
Watching Hunter X Hunter and enjoying fish & chips. Can life get better?
Enjoying the Ant Arc with fish & chips.

Itami is a self-declared Otaku who says he does the job to support his hobby, aye, but he's still a trained special forces soldier (albeit he skimped by on the bare minimum, keep in mind the bare minimum for special forces is still considerable!).
And the villians are anything but cartoonishly evil, though I don't know what nonsense the anime has been showing after I dropped it before I even finished episode #3.
Give the manga a shot. It is vastly superiour to what I've seen the anime do and if it isn't for you, can't be helped, but at least your opinion wouldn't be mislead by an atrociosly bad adaption (think UBW movie vs UBW series).
Cola you should also watch Oregairu when you're done with HxH.
I just started though...
You will tho'

He is? Ah, I think the anime skipped that part, I was under the impression that he just did the minimum amount of work to stay in the military of a country that hasn't been to war in 70 years.

You will tho'
Not necessarily.
I didn't cry.
