Well, as far as the base material goes, Rokka no Yuusha might really make it into the inner circle of anime provided the adaption a.) actually does the whole thing without getting axed and b.) stays faithful to the LN without any BS alternate ending nonsense.

 

 

I obviously do recommend everyone who's interested in reading the LN (here the fan-translation I'm reading). Even if the anime goes down the drain*, the LN itself is a compelling read.

 

 

 

*I will never forgive Passione and Takeo Takahashi (same guy who also produced Spice&Wolf btw) if the anime isn't going to be complete!

Nen is an awesome thing because the more restrictions you put into your power the more powerful it becomes.

 

Take Kurapika as a the prime example or if not take other examples in the entire series.

 

Kite can only summon his weapon when he's in trouble and gets a random one each time.

 

So the restrictions there are simple. He can never use his weapon at will nor the one he wants.

 

Take Gon's transformation as a Super Sayain thing but with consequences and meaning. Killua basically told us what happened.

 

He gave up everything from his ability to use Nen and hell, even his life.

 

This is a final form trope, and HxH does a lot of tropes if you look back. But what HxH does is twist these tropes into something else completely.

 

Like King.

 

King is the evil villain "I am the perfect being" (aka: Cell) Trope yet Togashi twisted that all around. Gave King a character, questioned his strength and made him into a person.

 

 

There will be another 'cliche' or 'trope' coming later on.

 

But remember.

 

Togashi doesn't do things conventionally.

 

If he did then the arc would have finished in 125-6.

If Gon were to fight Pitou 1v1 he would have died 5 seconds in.

 

Look back to King's fight.

 

What did Netero do apart from slap him away?

 

Nothing.

 

King didn't even use his freaking Nen.

Only fight that was ever hype af was King vs Netero and they delivered beautifully.

 

I still hold that this was also done perfectly.
