By the way, I'm trolling - the gore is over the top, but I found it pretty cool and believable for her character's personality, in terms of that side of her.

I haven't watched Slayers. What's that about? Well, besides slaying people.

Comedy/fantasy. Pretty much your typical fantasy save the world sort of thing. It had some pretty likeable characters from what I remember and the action was half decent for the time too. My sister got the series before I knew much about anime and this one pretty much got me interested in it originally. Its been ages since I watched it though.

You should watch Puella Magi Madoka Magica without reading anything about it beforehand... lol.
