Anyone know what's going on with Sidonia? This second season... I don't think I can make it through. First season had it's quirks, but this round seems like that's in overdrive. What made the show interesting before seems muted now, everything is just weird & annoying. But mostly weird. New creative team take control? Creators stifled by higher ups demanding a change? What happened?

Pretty much this, yeah. Nothing ironic about it really. Watched it a ton as a kid so I'm very fond of it. No real nostalgia goggles either cause I've watched it in the last five or so years and still enjoyed it.

Pretty much this, yeah. Nothing ironic about it really. Watched it a ton as a kid so I'm very fond of it. No real nostalgia goggles either cause I've watched it in the last five or so years and still enjoyed it.

Like 2 episodes into The Galaxy Railway.
Space trains and made up units of measurement, not 100% how to feel about this yet.
But what I saw of Galaxy Express 999 I liked, so I'll keep at it.

I can't help imagining that the only improvements over the anime will be having a real ending, and filling in the gaps in the world building.

Well so far they haven't really explained why the magical plot device stop existing. So I have low hopes for the world building.

 

I mean... you just caused a freaking paradox and it's "Oh, yeah. None of this happened... yeah."

 

Though I think I can  for the way through the manga.

Reading bad things is always a good idea. Mainly because it gives you an appreciation for the better materials and if you write you can learn how NOT to do the story and pick up the few things it may have done right. So far I'm just learning how not to do ecchi manga.
