In Japan most likely.
If you're talking about the rape (since I can't recall our conversations from back then sorry xD) then they build on it on the second and third book too.
It f*cking ruins his stupid life.
Which is already ruined.
But ruins it even more.
Thomas isn't meant to be a character you're supposed to like at all xD
Yes, that's what I meant, and I know that it's something they keep coming back to. I get why they did it, and the effect it has is quite profound. I just know when I originally read it I was quite... Yeah iono. I was in a state of shock when I first read it, which was quite a while back. Even as far as rape goes within stories that one hit me hard. After reading that scene I put the book down and couldn't read it for like a month. Thankfully my dad and a couple other people who loved the series convinced me to pick it back up by essentially talking to me about the effect that part had one the story but yeah, it's probably one of the single most shocking scenes I've seen in fiction. What made it so hard was how much you genuinely sympathized with Covenant.
But yeah, Thomas Covenant is an extremely well written series though, it's the kind that has deep meaning and themes which it takes seriously and tries to explore seriously. I have a lot of respect for it as a whole and would like to finish it one day.
I guess a lot of it comes back to that note he read at the start:
“A real man—real in all the ways that we recognize as real—finds himself suddenly abstracted from the world and deposited in a physical situation which could not possibly exist: sounds have aroma, smells have color and depth, sights have texture, touches have pitch and timbre. There he is informed by a disembodied voice that he has been brought to that place as a champion for his world. He must fight to the death in single combat against a champion from another world. If he is defeated, he will die, and his world—the real world—will be destroyed because it lacks the inner strength to survive.
The man refuses to believe that what he is told is true. He asserts that he is either dreaming or hallucinating, and declines to be put in the false position of fighting to the death where no "real" danger exists. He is implacable in his determination to disbelieve his apparent situation, and does not defend himself when he is attacked by the champion of the other world.
Question: Is the man's behavior courageous or cowardly? This is the fundamental question of ethics.”
Heh actually dug out my copy of the first book to write that out. I'd like to have an in-depth discussion about the series on day when I finish the main books. I think you and I would have a good conversation on it Sim.
In Japan most likely.
Nah, when cars are involved, my bet's on either UK or the US.
I know!So what if everyone votes for everyone? It'd still be tied for 1st and thus in the top three.
Anyway, I voted Stephanie Brown, Ranko Kanzaki and Tekken.
I do remember you saying something about Yurippi from Angel Beats! though.
Edit: Why do you have Stephanie Brown listed as Marvel Comics? She's DC.
She got 2nd. So there you go. The saga is over.
I know!
Phone auto spell.
Ah, I figured the chances of her being from Idolm@ster were great since you talked about that show a lot.
Damn auto spell.
Nah.
I'm just an emotional bubble when it comes with anime/games/books/series.
Cried whilst reading The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant.
Twice.
That's the most I've ever done for a book.
Proud of it too.
That was some good reading, Thomas Covenant is defo the sort of fantasy book Isi would enjoy.
Dear God, it was life time ago that I delved into that series.
She's from the bad series tho.Ah, I figured the chances of her being from Idolm@ster were great since you talked about that show a lot.

Decided that I'm rewatching all 100+ YYH episodes, cause I need to reacquaint myself with my number 1 anime.

I watched the first episode of Chu2, kinda reminds me of the Fallout PnP campaign I'm in. I'm playing as a delusional 14 year old who believes he's a powerful necromancer.
Oh yeah. I need to get back to Yu Yu Hakusho.Decided that I'm rewatching all 100+ YYH episodes, cause I need to reacquaint myself with my number 1 anime.
Is that you Freeza?
Loli
You switched away from Yuno? :"(
No. Yusuke doesn't have any special dialogue with Frieza. He does with Ichigo tho.Is that you Freeza?
Dear God, it was life time ago that I delved into that series.
That was not Yuno.
Whoever that was, it looked like Yuno ![]()
Is suddenly ashamed for misidentifying waifuus.
She's from the bad series tho.
Which is the problem.
I figured that you were ashamed of the series that the character appeared in which is why you wouldn't tell us. It wasn't hard to figure out when you gave us choices XD
It's okay Cloni-chan, no need to feel ashamed. We all probably have characters that we like that are from bad shows.
Whoever that was, it looked like Yuno
Is suddenly ashamed for misidentifying waifuus.
Bruh, I don't know how to tell you this but, Yuno might actually be a worse waifu than Ikaros.

But..
Yuno is cute..
Ikaros is just well, breasty..
Good. Mirai Nikki sucks.
Interesting concept. Really bad execution.
Yuno and Ikaros belong to the trash can now.
Just put Yuki in the trash and Yuno will jump right in.
