Aria is one of these shows that almost anyone can enjoy on some level.

It's pretty different from the sort of shows you tend to gravitate towards though. It's one of the most peaceful, optimistic, lighthearted anime I've ever watched, So I don't know if you'd really like it. But at the very least, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't dislike it.

It's also a good show to watch in parallel of something else. It's pretty-good at counterbalancing more heartbreaking shows. It's also a pretty good watch late at night before going to bed. It's been described by one of the VAs as "Nothing really happens, but in a really good way." and I've seen more than once people commenting that they go to sleep while watching it.

If you ever get around to watching it, keep in mind that pretty much everyone consider the first season, Aria the Animation, to be the weakest part, with the series getting better as it progresses.

And yeah, Haibane Renmei is a really good one too. In terms of pace it can be a bit slow, with not much happening most of the time, so I can see where the comparison with Aria comes from. It's a bit darker though, but not heart-breaking.

That's good to know. It's got some mass appeal to some extent then from the sounds of it. Well you're right I do tend to gravitate towards the more serious toned shows I don't mind something a bit more light hearted as long as it knows what it is. It's the shows that try and be all thuperdeepandsrs and fail at it that get on my nerves. Watching something like Love Lab for example you know what kind of show it is and it doesn't try to be anything else so I'm cool with that.

I'll make sure not to stop on season 1 if it feels a bit weaker if and when I do get watching it. Not sure when that will be but it is on my list :)

Between Mustang, Al, Riza, and both Armstrongs it's tough to say.

Haha yeah.

My favourite is Mustang but FMAB has this cast that's hard to hate.

But I know that the Title of Favourite Character has been passed down the Armstrong line for generations!

The Armstrongs are both ridiculously good characters with Olivier Mira Armstrong being far better than I could anticipate. Owning everything and everyone around her!

She might be the Ice Queen but she sure did melt my heart.

That was cheesy.

But who cares.

Oh, Aria definitely knows what sort of show it is.

Guess I should also mention that the anime is directed by Junichi Sato, who was co-director on Princess Tutu.

The manga is about as enjoyable as the anime too. Especially if listening to the anime's soundtrack while reading it.

Reminds me that I still need to check out Aria one of these days. Been interested in it ever since King of Dust said it was his favorite. One day when I have free time... One day...

It got my attention to so I'll certainly give it a look. I'm aiming to go through the list by picking recommendations from different people, so that I can get an idea of everyone's tastes. Or at least I'm trying to. Its hard making out who was the main advocate for a particular show when the last few picks have been echoed by so many people.  :P

But yeah. That's the only recommendation I've got from Dust. So it should come up sooner rather than later.

Ah, it even sounds like what I was going for with Chu2, minus the whole being misled about it being not so cheerful a lot of the time and actually getting quite heavy!  :P

Chu2's still amazing though.

Oh and Clones.

If you decide to put Olivier if your waifu list.

I will support your decision and defend it to the end.

He can't just keep adding waifus to his list. We live in an age where the concept of privacy is evaporating, his waifus are going to find out about each other.

Ohhh yes. That definitely is a good thing to mention for sure <3 Considering Princess Tutu is in my top 5 that's extremely good to hear.

That's a good way to get a variety of shows, it's not unusual for many of us to have similar tastes for shows as you've seen with a bunch of the ones you've watched already but it's good to know peoples favorites.

When Togashi releases the next chapter that is.

Yikes, I don't look forward to one day condensing my favourites into a similarly short list... PMMM I'm certain will always be there, and likely heading my list of favourite media outright. But everything else is a lot harder to predict. Its all been so damn good, but I've barely even started.  ^_^

Case in point, your favourites. Those are all already on the list and in the pipeline, except Baccano. Is that something I should add too?

Baccano is great! It's got a unique type of storytelling style that can take a couple episodes to get use to but it's a whole lot of fun once you do. Very unique and very entertaining imo. It does require you to pay attention but I don't think that should be an issue for you.

It's also one of the rare times you'll hear me say to definitely watch the dub over the sub since it just fits the setting better to have it in English, and they actually did a good job with it.

For a lot of my favorite animes though it's really just the difference between a 10/10 and a 9/10 most of the time. There's plenty of ones I could easily throw on the list that are wonderful (just remembered I forgot KLK on that list :pinched: ) but those ones on there now are just my overall top picks

I'd like to think I can pay attention. I'd be more than a little screwed at this point with Kaiba if I couldn't!  :P

Oh, and set in 1930's America... that's certainly something different. I'm down with that.

And as for my favourites going forward, I'll probably just remember the ones that had the largest affect on me personally.

Or the ones with the really good soundtracks. Good music can make or break a series for me, and if I keep listening to a shows soundtrack... well, its always going to be fresh in my mind to remember it as a favourite.

If you're going to get into Higurashi I recommend the Visual Novel over the anime.  The VN does it WAY better.

Now time for Gangsta.
