They would be fools to kill off the best character in the show.

Finished Angel Beats. It was a bit hit and miss for me. Though I would say they did nail most of the serious emotional/serious moments pretty well.

Should I add Clannad to my to watch list for my next feels trip anime?

Decided to watch ChuU 2 and it isn't too bad, only up to EP06 though.

Every possible sense of the word yes.

Angel Beats is by all means quite overdone, in comparison to Clannad, Kanon and even Air TV.

It's a slow burner. I'd definitely reccommend it, but don't expect the same type of experience as Angel Beats.

I took a break from anime & manga, but when I stopped I was watching Claymore and Naruto Shippuden. I love, love Naruto, really need to start it back up. As for manga, I was reading up on Black Butler, watched a few episodes of the anime but didn't stick with it.

I took a few years off and then watched Attack on Titan and Puella Magi Madoka Magica and now I am fully hooked again. Theres some good stuff out there depending on what your tastes are.

I dont mind if its different and slower paced then Angel Beats if the payoff is worth it. From the sounds of things, it is with this series.

At the very least I doubt I will binge through the entire series at once the way I did with Angel Beats.

Well this break has lasted maybe a few months, but I have a habit of getting really hooked on something, and then one day I'm just bored with it and move on to something else. This isn't my first break from anime & manga!

I actually watched the first episode of Attack on Titan, and I told myself I was going to go back and watch some more, but I never did.

I am almost finished Fate/Zero season 1 and its been pretty awesome. No romances like in Fate/Stay, just great fights, badass plot and 1 kind of gut wrenching scene.

I liked Fate/Zero but the lack of any real "main character" really hurt the plot, there's far too much shifting that when it finally settles down on one character for a while, it's usually because everyone else is going to show up shortly afterwards. It's probably why I grew to like Kirei Kotomine, he has a lot more focus than anyone else and has actual character development due to it.

****FATE/ZERO SPOILERS******

I liked Fate/Zero until the ending. It felt so rushed and cheap. Also, my favorite character was Kariya because god damn, that tragic bastard, but they literally just shaft him aside to focus on much les interesting and far less relatable characters like Kiritsugu. They even shafted berserker! He was made out to be an unstoppable monster, punking out Gilgamesh every time they fought, then Saber manages to beat him in a one on one because....plot? And this is after they didn't even fully flesh out his character relation to Kariya. The best Mage/Servant pair was sidelined imho. The first season was brilliant though, and most of the second was great.

It didn't help that they forced in a "tragic past" flashback for two-three episodes, shot the pacing all to hell and served no real purpose.

Kariya would probably be my favorite had he gotten more focus, I loved every scene he was in but there wasn't enough of them. The part where he strangles the woman he loved. Hot damn.

Pretty much, I loved how over-the-top and ridiculous the Gilgamesh / Berserker aerial fight was.

And this is after they didn't even fully flesh out his character relation to Kariya. The best Mage/Servant pair was sidelined imho. The first season was brilliant though, and most of the second was great.

As much as I liked Waver and Rider's dynamic together, they should've been the ones sidelined. That or Caster should've gotten a lot less focus than he did at the start to focus instead on the main characters who actually have some real purpose to be focused on rather than "I'm an evil person mwahahaha".

I won't lie, Caster was amazing. Like, in the end he and Ryunoske served no real purpose, but they were damn entertaining.

And I couldn't agree more about the flashback episodes. It was jarring and did nothing to make me appreciate or like Kiritsugu any more than I did, which wasn't much after the hypocrisy he portrayed throughout the series (which was at least brought to his attention by the grail towards the end).

And yeah, Rider and Waver's beautiful bromance was great, but it did take up a lot of screen time.

Oh, it was great and I loved their whole god speech which couldn't help but bring a smile to my face. I just don't think it was necessary to show every crime they commit right up to the end.

The flashback episodes should've been brief clips spread throughout the series if they were absolutely mandatory, shoving them right before the end was idiotic and could've been handled a lot better. Kiritsugu was only interesting as the "badass" and had nothing else going for him.

I expected they'd deal with him going "oh ****" and focus on him after the grail explosion but nope, they showed him freaking out from Shirou and Kirei's perspectives. Like... seriously? This is your main protagonist and he's been side-lined the entire series, least give him his vital scene at the end, ufotable.

Aside from Kuritsugu and the lack of focus on Kamiya, everything else was fantastic and I hope they do Heaven's Feel for their F/SN.

And yeah, Rider and Waver's beautiful bromance was great, but it did take up a lot of screen time.

I question whoever decided we needed to see Waver and Rider go shopping, Waver talking to "grandpa" and what say you.

I stopped Fate/Zero after episode 3 because it didn't seem to be going places. Was I wrong?

It gets really good, especially toward the end of season one. Most of season 2 is good, but it dips toward the end. I'd say it's worth it to pick it back up and finish it, especially since Studio ufotable is re-animating Fate/Stay Night this year. Overall, I'd say F/Z is an 8/10, even if it does sort of fall apart on the back end.
