I'd like to ask you about those problems after I finish, Dave. (I didn't mean to sound like an arse, though I do hehe, I'm actually curious.)

Oh, whatever happens, this guy is still awesome.

I prefer to watch Pokemon rather watching something like Code Geass.

First gen Pokemon, second gen or whatever gen came after that series?

Never watched it more then a few episodes (in late 90s and half a movie later). I suppose they should be first gen.

Just watched this show, Gargantia. Not too bad. I liked the premise but even after just watching it I have a hard time thinking of what it will be memorable for. Maybe expected more after PMMM. But the lack of butchery (well, depending on who you consider important :P) was interesting. Good enough that I'll check out the second season anyways.

There are noticable differences. Overall, it's more geared towards action and cool SFX. Less of good ol' introspective story-telling and more mecha galore. It's also more explicit about the bible-references and whatnot obscurities. All in all seems joyfully overdone, but not in a bad way. Just more campy, I guess.

Also, it has this new twist to it. A "things repeat" theme if you willst. Or a "other dimension" thing to it. It kinda comments on the originals. And the narrative and way the story is told is original, in no way does it exactly copy parts of the the series. In this, Rebuild is a fully better experience than Death and Rebirth (which was a pointless retelling).

Wouldn't of enjoyed it as much if I wasn't a fan already. For EVA fans, or people who've at least seen the original(s), it's a must-see.

Thanks, I'll look into them then.

I personally don't, I really don't like the animation style and the setting does not interest me.

I pe-ru-so-nally like both of those things about it. It's a fine show about the concept of morality & ethics. Much better & more entertaining than Death Note, certainly.

Okay I finished Code Geass and R2.

SPOILERS FOR EVERYTHING!!!!

Apart from the plot diversion (the one with his father and that 'killing god' stuff) I loved every single moment of it. Every episode HAD something in it, there was never a filler. You weren't dragged a long 10 or even 4 episodes before something happened, no, it was fast paced with a great cast and awesome battles to go along. Loved the battles and the plans Zero executed, that game of chess he played with the world.

And what a tragic end, seriously, had me all teary eyed. The guy never found happiness, and died a bloody hero. I don't know if it was absolutely necessary for him to do that, but I really feel he just wanted to die, even in the end.

So, what problems did you have with it, Dave? (seriously, I can't ask this question without sounding like a coy **** xD) And now that I'm done what do you guys think of...

Freezing
High School of the Death

Or is there another one you guys think would be better. I'm looking for stuff with the same tone of the last three I've watched, I don't think I would enjoy something light hearted right now, not in the mood for it.

And what about the Code Geass films, are they worth watching?

I've got a lot of problems with the second season and the animation style frustrates me but there was a lot of redeeming things in the series, so much so that I understand why some praise it to be the greatest thing (though I personally disagree).

One day you will have to sit down and explain these redeeming qualities to me.

I personally saw an overated buddle of tripe and OP mary sues.

Really? I loved Death Note, seeing Light go completely bonkers from his first kill and see his guilt manifest into a raging god complex from accidently killing two people. Well not accidently but who would believe in a supernatural  killer notebook.

And of course watching him enjoy his newfound power too much.

Seeing Light lose it at the end was one of the most powerful scenes I've seen in a long time. Really, he just flipped, it was awesome.

I am still astounded to this day that he simply didn't bring a piece and shoot his attackers, doubters and what have you dead...

Your a Policemen in Japan; Your like one of 17% of the population allowed to carry a firearm and ammunition and yet you don't exploit that law like you do everything else?

Spoilers within.

One of the things which appealed to me the most in the first season was the whole Lelouch vs Britannia dynamic, he had to think things through and while there was fairly unbelievable scenarios which Lelouch's plans went according to what he had anticipated, they were mostly grounded and required the use of his other assets and people to fight through them.

This changes by R2, gone are the strategies and Lelouch outplaying people, sort of. It's mostly about him "outplaying" them by using some weird asset that's overpowered (Suzaka's mech) or it's done off-screen / makes no sense. It brought down the experience for me.

I wouldn't have minded it too much but then you've got the Geass cult for no real reason, Lelouch's inconsistent behavior with Rolo, etc. R2 felt like it was them knowing where it was going but no knowing how to get there, throwing everything onto the table in the faint hope of getting it right.

Which they did with the ending. My god, that ending.

So he was going to shoot every cop in the room, including special agents? Unless he controlled over people to do it for him via the death note, but that would just implicate him being the 'only survivor.'

No, Just Near.

He would then of course be cut down in a hail of gunfire.

Exactly, there wouldn't be a point to that if he wanted to carry on being 'god.'

Anyway, since I've started this I swear I can't get these shows out of my head. I watched Death Note, then I couldn't get that out of my head until I watched Future Diary, then it was PMMM and now its Code Geass.

I'm going for Cowboy Bepob next, looks cool being all noir nd stuff.

P.S Especially the intro songs. Can't understand what they **** they are saying but jesus are they catchy xD

This is what happened when I started watching anime again. You see a handful of shows that are badass and then a few months later your binging entire series on a daily bases >_<

Theres far too many good animes. Anyways its been about half a year since I originally saw PMMM and I still can't get it out of my head.
