It was a pretty good battle. Its easy to forget that Mami is actually an extremely tough Magic Girl... when shes paying attention.

Yes.
And that Batman Gambit she pulled.
Brilliant.
The movie had really good action in general. Not to mention the hypest thing evar.
THE CAKE CHANT!

I still have no idea why that chant was in the movie lol

So The Different Story PMMM manga spoilers ahead: funny enough Kyoko defeats Mami in a very similar manner to how Mami outsmarts Homura in that fight in the Rebellion Story.

Because it's the greatest thing ever, when it started I had a look of both confusion and glee, something that doesn't happen very often.

I still need to read Different Story tbh.

You should. Especially if Mami is your favorite character. Both Mami and Kyoko are the main characters and it expands much more on them then the TV series does. plus Its only 3 volumes long so its a fairly quick read.

Good stuff.
And just as Soul-Crushing as the Anime.

Well, considering where it fits in the timeline you kind of have an idea of what to expect. It was pretty well done overall and it did make me appreciate Mami more. Got a bit feelsy at the end with Mami's letter.

Gen is good at destroying the characters you love. I watched a translated clip of one of Sayakas endings in the PSP game and he somehow manages to make things worse for her then it was in the TV series.

I think I'm gonna read it too. I was wondering if there was a way to fight against Homura, and they all figured it out. Should be interesting to see how it goes.

'Sides, it was nice to see Mami actually fight in the movie.

So I finished up Another. First off the animation style was superb. As for the story.. I was really liking it up until half the students decided to go crazy and start killing each other. Is still wraps it up decently but the ending did not feel quite on par and consistent with the rest of it, still interesting watch.

They pulled off a kind of interesting twist with Mei earlier/mid season I though was cool. I was certain she was going to turn out to be a ghost... and it ended up being the exact opposite.

Yeah, the last few episodes feel like part of a completely different series.

At least they were able to explain it so things didn't feel like they came completely out of left field.

The thing is the series actually impressed me with how subtle it could be through most of it. Sure the deaths are pretty gruesome but 95% of it was the buildup and the dreary background tone that I personally thought was amazingly effective. The last few episodes kind of felt a bit too much like your typical horror in which no one is really acting rationally and you sort of end up disconnecting. I felt like they could have done a better job, but oh well. Luckily I don't think the ending was complete garbage, because it kind of looked like it would end up being that way for a while.

Edit: So apparently crunchyroll censored the movie? I was watching an uncensored version running aside CR's and I got to say this has got to be some of the most pointless censoring I have ever seen. For example: theres a 35 second long scene of a guy stabbing himself through the neck in which they cut out about 1 second of blood spraying but keep in the other 34 seconds. What freaking difference does it make?

I would say because the stabbing is grotesque, but the whole show is to a certain extent.

But yeah, I was hoping for something different than a Clue ending with blood. But it still worked somewhat.

So, is Durarara worth checking out?

Also has anyone else watched Tonari no Seki-Kun: The Master of Killing Time? I started it up randomly and its hilarious.

Definitely. It has a bunch of interesting characters, an interesting premise, and it has good execution. The way they present the story is pretty cool too. I know I'm not being too descriptive here, but that's mainly because I don't know how to describe it, lol.

Thats fine, I just like picking up random animes I dont know much about and giving them a try once in a while. It looked like it had an interesting style so I figured it could be worth checking out. Going to watch a few episodes and give it a try.

Turns out the new Gatchaman I was asking about doesn't have a lot going for it except the music. But, it has that.

The lack of closure and overall focus on the high school characters as opposed to the more interesting characters
is what let it down for me -- But ultimately, I felt the anime was sharply unique, like Baccano, and deserves a watching.
I do feel they should make more seasons in the future.

Crunchyroll: daughters beheading their mothers in a fountain of blood: Okay; man stabbing himself in the neck: Cut out one last second, it's too scary.

I actually felt the last two episodes of Another were better than the middle of the series, the middle of the series was a comedy for me because it became Final Destination.

Wow, this episode was more 'Ghost in the Feels' than anything. So far I enjoy 2nd GIG over the Stand Alone Complex. Perhaps it's because I've come to know the characters better, and the whole refugee plot interests me a lot more than corporate terrorism.

Not happening. I don't think there would be this long of a wait if there were gonna be more episodes.

Right, it was a play on Phoenix Wright, the guy in your image.

Personally I would always recommend using subs instead of dubs. I can't
give much opinion on the GitS:SAC dubs as the only time I ever even
tried a GitS dub was from the original movie to hear a certain line from
Batou ("bigass weapon") and never tried again, but what I do can say is
the GitS voice acting, movies and series are on a flat-out SUPERB
quality level.

I recommend you try watching the episode again
subbed and then decide which one you like better. Especially Batou's and
Motoko's seiyu are extraordinarily good in their voice acting and can
convey emotional nuances very good (something that is especially
important in Motoko's case because being rather stoic is part of her
personality, making nuances very important in her characterization!).

The GitS dub for the show/SSS movie are amazing. As I said before, Richard Epcar and Aramaki's VA retained their roles from the original movie.

Seriously, Batou is now synonymous with Richard Epcar. He NAILED the role.

Dave of Canada wrote...

I'm still one of the heathens who prefer watching dubs over subs, I
prefer a casual watch without much focus on paying attention to the
subtitles. When I'm watching a subbed series, I'm forced to pay
attention to my second monitor while drinking tea.

This.

Save for SnK I watch dubs. For Shingeki no Kyojin, the subs are thankfully not that distracting.

I haven't watched enough anime to catch onto that Posted Image

Though
I've already caught Oghren/Grunt (I refuse to call him Steve Blum) in
two of them, hehe. But his role as the coolest motherf*cker in the
galaxy is well deserved.

You know who I'm talking about right?

Steve Blum does a lot of VA work, not just for video games. You'll notice a few familiar VAs in some anime.

Filachoma wrote...

I liked the GitS dub, VAs did a good job. Screw hulu and their ads,
though. I usually just try to find the most convenient, legal-sounding
option to view something, whether it's dub or sub.

First, I'm gonna call you Filachoma. Or Filchoma.

Second, I usually go to justdubz.tv to watch anime when I can. They tend to keep up to date.

Tha-

He's not a dude?

O.o

He is, but he's dressed up like a girl. As was said, the Pokemon episode got changed for American (maybe elsewhere) audiences because it would've rustled many peoples' jimmies.

Not the first time James has done stuff like that though. Or other people in the show. Remember when Ash dressed up as a girl to get his gym battle with Erika?

Also, on the topic of James, this is still magnificent.

"I AM A FLAMING MOLTRES!"

And I get a distinct "I am the terror that flaps in the night" vibe from his mini-speech.

Holy ****, these last episodes of Ghost have been really intense, and that episode 25 ending....

Sh*t :-/

The characters were great and the little robot things were cute,
though I think they could have done a better job with their dubs, jesus
they were annoying at times with their voices.

After you finish up 2nd GiG, you should look for the GitS video game for the PS2 if you have one. It's not, IIRC, tied to the series as it has its own standalone story, but the VAs from the show reprise their roles.

Storyline wise, it's superb.

Sh*t

I missed that from the list I gave you!

I deserve to be handcuffed and spanked...

But Motoko if possible...

@ TEWR, AKA: Gorillaman!

That's awesome! I knew there was a game but I just passed it off as a cheap knock off. But the VA's are back and the story is superb?

I might have to simulate it to get it though, I don't see it on PSN anytime soon.
