Well, I was planning on watching the Monogatari series after Clannad because its Shaft. But if even the person who was telling me to check it out loved Haruhi maybe I should watch that first?

Wow, that's really hard. Well, here's the thing, Haruhi is shorter at 28 episodes and the Disappearance movie. Monogatari is up to about 51 and is still on going (with a new segment coming this year).

That being the case, it might be good to watch Haruhi first as there likely won't get any new content (and if so, it won't be for a while).

Now for Haruhi, I'd recommend watching it in chronological order. And watch the endless eight. I know I'm in the minority sayiing I actually enjoyed the ordeal, but it will lead to a greater emotional pay off when you watch Disappearance.

Well that settles that. Haruhi will be my next series, then probably Monogatari afterwords.

So without spoiling anything, why are peoples opinions split over the endless eight business?

It's essentially the same episode, eight times in a row. The animation, angles, etc. are different in each episode, and there are minor changes and nuances here and there, but it got to the point where I was reciting the lines in my head as the characters said them.

There is a point to it though, and when you finish it, you'll feel a sense of accomplishment and relief so exalting that you'll spend the next day contemplating the significants of every tiny detail, certain you must have missed something.

I will watch all 8, I'm intrigued to see where they go with that.

At the rate I am watching Clannad I will probably be able to start that on the weekend. Well back on the feels train.

I didn't feel anything until After Story. Samething with Little Busters. Felt nothing until Refrain. Of the two Key works, I liked Little Busters Refrain better. The first seasons for both of them felt pretty average.

I personally never liked Haruhi, so I'd reccomend the opposite.

And the Endless 8 REAAAALLY drags it out. I prefer filler to episodes like this.
