I recommend FMA merely because of Bradley.

Finished.
Well, that sucks. I don't feel satisfied at all with that ending. The relationship never got to blossom again, and it all felt quite forced. Sato is still a bloody idiot and his sudden 'revelation' on his feelings was kind of 'meh.'
Apart from that, I enjoyed it. But it seems to me that the romance arc never really knew where it was going, or at least, when it got back on track, the thing stopped.
The whole point was that both were better and were working for an even better future.
Also, you might have missed the significance of the second contract ![]()

So... many... anime...
I'll end up like Satao at this rate.
@Lotion
Oh, it wasn't lost. But the romantic in me wanted to see them go luvy dubby hahah xD it wasn't bad at all. It's just something silly personal dislike, the anime is solid otherwise :-)
But I suppose the story ends up stronger like that. Having MY type of ending would be cliche and boring, it's far more meaningful and original to end the series like that ![]()
But damn could the development have been better on the romance side. It's like he forgot all about Misaki after the meeting and didn't care for her until suddenly in the end he... did? Well, you know he cares for her simply because you can make the connection, though the series doesn't bother to remind you he does. Obviously he distances himself from her because he doesn't want to get hurt, but the show could have let the audience know that. It didn't have to obvious, but that level of subtlety would easily confuse the audience in thinking "wait, why is he being an ******* all of a sudden?"
"Try" being the key word. And yeah YouTube is surprisingly good.Yeah, crunchyroll is great for legal streaming. Hulu, funimation, aniplex and the manga network all have a bunch of cool stuff too. I've been making more of a conscious effort to try to stream legally or purchase.
Its hard sometimes when stuff like garden of sinners costs 500 bucks and not streamed anywhere, but I figure I'll enjoy stuff like that more when I get the dough to get it. Anyways, those are the sites I go to. If not, there's a lot on YouTube too.
ok so im am rather new to anime...as in I have watched only a handful. but the ones I have watched I have fallen in love with. at the moment I have mostly limited myself to anime movies but I was wondering if the people here had any suggestions for a newbie? tv shows or films, any suggestions are appreciated!
Without knowing any of your tastes I'll just throw my personal favourite out there. If you give us an idea of what your preference are we can suggest more.ok so im am rather new to anime...as in I have watched only a handful. but the ones I have watched I have fallen in love with. at the moment I have mostly limited myself to anime movies but I was wondering if the people here had any suggestions for a newbie? tv shows or films, any suggestions are appreciated!

Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Don't read up on it, don't spoil anything, just sit back and enjoy the awesomeness. It's 12 episodes long plus a movie, the tv series was also adapted into movies so you can also just watch it as a trilogy if you prefer.
well as far as taste in general (since I haven't really acquired enough anime experience to say that I like/dislike something) i rarely watch something that doesn't have a good story. I like good character development, and also really enjoy media that has moral/social implications, something that makes you think critically. and thinking critically not only applies to social/moral stuff, also applies to things that require intelligence in general.
as far as genre goes (again this applies to all the other media since I haven't watched much anime) I will do pretty much anything, but like in particular romance and sci-fi. I generally avoid series about romance since I think that 50+ episodes about the same relationship can get rather boring. but I am open minded if you want suggest something that has a good story...im something of a romantic so I would probably watch something that was suggested as really good
my thus far limited experience of anime is (ones that I really like, first 3 are tied for my favorite):
-mononoke hime
-ghost in the shell (original)
-hotarubi no mori e (loved it but depressing)
-5 cm per second (again loved this one, but it was also depressing as ****)
-the girl who leapt through time (crap ending, still good) *edit: the movie
I have watched others, but none that I feel are worth mentioning. this is limited so please don't use this as a template for what you might suggest, I just went to the most popular anime movies. I am open to anything good!
Satsuki wearing Senketsu? Yes please.
Hell to the freakin yes.

My two first recommandations are Kino's Journey, and Mushi-shi. Both of them have standalone episodes for the most part. They don't really have an overarching plot that unfolds throughout the series. Kino's Jourey has 13 episodes, Mushi-shi has 26.
Neither of them are about romance of sci-fi. In both cases action is somewhat sparse. Both have a few things in common, like a protagonist that keeps wandering around, visiting new places pretty much each episode. They both touch on some philosophical themes, though Kino's Journey delves a bit more strongly into philosophy, while Mushi-shi feels more peotic at times.
There aren't a whole lot of anime series that I'd put in my "favorites" category, but those two stand very near the top. Just under Aria the Animation, which I don't recommend, because I love it too much and want to keep it all to myself.

Garden of Sinners were a bunch of movies. RightStuf had it for $120 or so, but now it is gone. It contained, what eight movies? That's less then $20 a piece. It was a fair price for it if you ask me. The $500 crap is probably because it's out of print. Same thing happened to Black Lagoon, before everyone started putting old anime on BDs.
Now trying to get Fate/Zero...Aniplex just doesn't play fair. They only want you to buy the limited edtion versions of Fate/Zero. That way they can jack the price up over $80 on DVD and over $100 on BD. *vents*
Yeah, I heard it normally is sold in the 100-200 dollar range, which is extremely reasonable, especially considering the quality of the show. I'll be waiting a while before making the purchase just in case a better deal pops up someday. Most of the time good prices are all a matter of waiting it out.
And yeah, Aniplex knows that they are the only company that distributes these animes, so they have adopted the "we'll charge whatever the hell we want" mindset.

well thanks for not recommending that anime series lol ![]()

@Sim
I'm pretty sure he did mention that he was pulling away to avoid being hurt emotionally after they almost kissed on the date following the meeting with Satos mother.
Yeah, but that was like 20000000 episodes before the finale :-)
I would have liked for him to share his thoughts with us. It's like he forgot all about her. But I suppose it does have that effect on us, we're not really sure if he does love her still or not. Perhaps it was meant to be that way, sometimes writers love to trick their audience.
*cough*
I'm looking at you Key -.-

Ok well, here's a few ones you can check out if your interested:
Paprica is a good science fiction movie that has a similar concept as Inception (although, it actually came out before inception). Been a while since Ive seen it so I probably am not the best one here to describe it off the top of my head, but it was pretty psychological and surreal but this would still probably be the best suggestion I can think of for you.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica, already mentioned this series but Ill bring it up again cause its just that good. Its a magical girl anime that is basically made for people who would never normally watch the genre. Watch the intro, if this seems like something you wouldn't like, then chances are its perfect for you.
Neon Genesis Evangelion you most likely have heard of and possibly already watched. One of the most popular anime series out there.
Shin Sekai Yori is a 26 episode fantasy anime based off a novel. I don't know if this one is considered that popular since I never hear it mentioned anywhere, (other then from Dave of Canada once) but its still a damned good story. It is really slow paced to begin with but it has a really well thought out world and setting. Its psychological and mostly deals with a group of 5 friends growing up in a society in which they are constantly at risk of being culled. Due to the pacing its a bit hard to recommend but its a solid watch if you get into it.
All of them have well thought out stories that will keep you thinking, imo. They all have romance aspects to them, although to varying degrees. If you want me to expand more on any of them or think these are not in line of what your looking for then just let me know and I can adjust it.

Dubbed is ok or good: melancholy of haruhi suzumiya, cowboy bebop, baccano!, black lagoon
sub only: clannad (sic!), neon genesis evangelion, paranoia agent, berserk, honey and clover (sic!), nodame cantabile, any ghibli movie
tho subs are always with better voice acting and a more subtle experience. Only dub I prefer is of Haruhi.
oh, and i second shin sekai yori
a slow burner though.
hey everypony im looking for some new animes to watch to keep me from my ippo/log horizon withdrawal. Any suggestions? And Ippo is an awesome cartoon!! Its a throwback to when Boxing was what MMA is today. Its so meticulous and theres a lot of fight science that goes into the show. Depsy roll ftw!!
I'd venture to say give the undervalued classic Tenjou Tenge a try.
Or with new anime, I'm pretty ok with Wizard Barristers. Also, a couple of seasons back there's Zetsuen no Tempest.
Kill la Kill and Samurai Flamenco are still ongoing as well.

I have to commend the depravity of whoever recommended Nisemonogatari for a certain toothbrush scene. That was... a work of art. Most amusing abomination since the Bible Black dub.
@Isichar, @Demx, @eroeru thanks so much for the recommendations! now I have too many to watch, much appreciated!

Let's play game called, Guess That Anime:
Find out what anime I used to make this. Winner gets a like. Gotta build up that BioWare rep.
Sounds as something out of Samurai Champloo.
