I've bought the Spice and Wolf novels up to volume 10 at this point and I actually think the translator has done a pretty good job.

They're simple and easy to read. Nothing to melt my brain.

I've got fan translations, all of them. You don't need to buy them :D perhaps it varies in quality.

It's not that the prose is simple, that's not it at all. A Song of Ice and Fire is an easy read, in comparison to, let's say, Tolkien's works, but it doesn't mean they are of lesser value. I'd go to say that Martin stomps Tolkien in the character department and in some other areas too.

It's just the way words are used that annoys me. Think back to the fist Dragon Age book, when David was still a nooby to the whole novel thing. It's like that but much worse.

Still, like I said before. I'm grateful for these guys to put the time into it, so I feel bad complaining, it's just one of those things that annoy me hehe. It's a silly gripe, not worth the trouble regarding my opinion on the matter unless you feel the same way :D

Back to anime then...

I've reached 32 of FMA:B, I bet this is when things start to slow down. But if they do, I wouldn't mind more character developments, especially in the relationship department. C'mon romance! Blossom!

And it seems that the Colonel has not given up. Hopefully it means more political intrigue which is always a plus. I don't mind a slowing down in pace if it's made up for. Look at A Feast for Crows and the first part of a Dance of Dragons for example.

The more I listen to this, the more I'm disappointed that we're unlikely to ever get a Heaven's Feel adaptation.

So, Kill la Kill is the hypest **** ever.

And Samurai Flamenco... I don't know anymore. It's either the most brilliant thing ever, or an anomaly of utter bullshit. That last episode though, I GUESS it all makes sense now... Also, "Sit down... Sit down!" Alien Flamenco's Engrish was the best thing ever, in any anime.

Well, I was going to watch Bakemonogatari next but I think I will finally get Steins:Gate off my list first. I literally know NOTHING about this series going into it... this should be fun.

I knew about that theory well watching the series, I think you made a post about believing in that somewhat recently. Its theories like that which make a series like Haruhi such a good watch. The scientific concepts were pretty decent so I would say that this is the type of show were that kind of theory could actually be entirely possible, and it would explain a few things as well. I'm going to have to read up more on it, but first I think I may read the manga. Theres no point in waiting for another season which may never come.

Anyone know anything about Blue Exorcist? Like, is it worth watching or not? I caught the first couple episodes thanks to Toonami and it seemed interesting.

It's entertaining, but I wouldn't give it any awards for compelling character development or plot. I'd say it's worth a watch if you like general actiony anime but nothing really that memorable comes to mind.

I'd say its generic and poorly presents both parties. The start of it was fine, until we are sucked into magic school land.

I know what you mean, but after reading Gothic literature for years you get used to this. "Accidents of life" happen all the time, and this is one of them. I mean, have you ever read Frakenstine? Hah! It's really a comedy if you think about it. Everything happens to that guy in the worst possible time. It's so bloody miserable you just have to laugh.

Yep. Without a doubt.

This is my favourite anime so far. Surprising since when I started I was quite 'meh' about it.

So the full Kill la Kill OP 2 comes out today-ish, so that's pretty cool too. One of the best anime intros in recent memory IMO.

Good to hear that. The last thing I'd want is for this to have a crappy ending.

Well, it sure makes for entertaining media

Maybe this is not the best way to describe it but I felt like the execution was a bit contrived, not so much the way it effected the story. I honestly think the whole powers glitch plot point was done solely just for that moment, which is fine (99% of fiction does this) I just wish it was a bit more subtle about it. Anyways don't get me wrong, I'm not writing off the scene altogether because it was a pretty interesting turn of events and we did get some of the better character development in the series because of it (Nina included, unfortunately) I just wish it didn't stand out so much.

Anyways in regards to FMA:B I constantly see it on top 10 lists, often in first place. So don't be too surprised. And yeah, it has a solid ending so don't worry. I kind of want to watch this series too, but I will probably wait a few more years until I've forgotten more of the manga.

@mhmbaSR1

Your welcome to make a post about it here. I know several people here have watched the series, myself included. I'm actually in the middle of rewatching it slowly with a friend (currently on episode 15) so some of it is fresh in my mind, although admittedly some of the stuff later on I only remember vaguely so I don't know how well I could answer your questions. Just don't forget to put a spoiler tag if you do make a post here on it.

Can't say I know another forum that has much discussion for this series atm, I know crunchyroll has some posts in regards to it but I don't think theres much there. Sorry.

Nice choice btw, I hope you liked it!
